Bongiovanni Nets Two, #2/2 Bobcats Handle LIU

Metsa Adds Three Assists, Chau Tallies 100th Career Point
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Senior captain Wyatt Bongiovanni tallied a pair of goals to lead the #2/2 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team to a 4-1 victory over the LIU Sharks on Friday evening. Senior assistant captain Zach Metsa picked up three assists in the win.
Bongiovanni opened Quinnipiac's scoring with a power play goal in the second period after the Sharks had taken a 1-0 lead earlier in the frame. Less than two minutes later, senior Joey Cipollone banged home what would turn out to be the game-winning goal off of assists from Metsa and TJ Friedmann.
The Bobcats added two more in the third period, one from Ethan de Jong and one from Bongiovanni who finished things off with an empty-netter.

- 5 Bobcats recorded multi-point nights as Bongiovanni, de Jong, Chau, Friedmann, and Metsa all found the scoresheet more than once.
- Graduate student Oliver Chau picked up two assists in the game and reached the 100-point milestone for his career.
- First year goaltender Yaniv Perets wasn't tested much and needed just 10 saves to earn the win. LIU only recorded one shot on goal in the first period.
- Perets' saw a 247:57 individual shutout streak come to an end on LIU's second period goal. The streak ranks as the 11th-longest streak in NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Division I history and the longest in program history.
- Metsa's three-assist night pushes his season total to 15 helpers and 17 points which leads the team. The senior is 6th in points amongst all DI defensemen in the nation and 2nd in assists.
- The Bobcats and Sharks will square off once more on Saturday night in Hamden. Puck drop isslated for 7 PM.
