WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The No. 2 Quinnipiac Bobcats fell in the MAAC Championship game on Sunday to the No. 1 Monmouth Hawks by a score of 4-0. The Bobcats completed the season with an overall record of 13-5-1, and the Monmouth Hawks will advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Monmouth started the game strong, scoring early to give the home team the lead. The Bobcats were unlucky throughout the game, tallying to shots that hit the post. The Hawks took care of business, winning the 2021 MAAC Championship, 4-0.

Six seniors completed their careers for Quinnipiac today - seniors Emily Loney, Lainey Lewis, Selena Salas, Gretchen Kron, Lauren Wendland and Lauren Triglione played in their final game as Bobcats. Triglione and juniors Olivia Scott and Kayla Mingachos were named to the MAAC All-Tournament team. Sophomore Rebecca Cooke finished the season tied for the most goals in the conference with 13, and Salas notched the conference-leading 13 assists this season.

SCORING SUMMARY
First Half

(9' – Quinnipiac 0, Monmouth 1): The Hawks took a 1-0 lead early in the first half with a rocket of a goal from Lauren Bruno from outside of the box. Jesi Rossman tallied an assist from the corner.
(28' – Quinnipiac 0, Monmouth 2): Rossman added a goal of her own later in the first half to give Monmouth a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Second Half

(57' – Quinnipiac 0, Monmouth 3): The Hawks extended its lead to 3-0 with a goal from Alexis Marino who scored off a cross on the back post. Rossman also assisted the Hawks' third goal of the game.
(82' – Quinnipiac 0, Monmouth 4): With eight minutes remaining in the second half, the Hawks scored on a counter attack, which started in the midfield. Lauren Karabin scored on the left side from Lauren Bruno and A'Liah Moore.

PROGRAM HISTORY NOTES

Quinnipiac lost in its second MAAC title appearance since joining the conference.
The Bobcats are 7-24-2 all-time against Monmouth, who won their fifth title in six years.
