Bobcats Shutout Yale In ECAC Hockey Opener

Lee, de Jong, and Friedmann all Score in Road Win
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A stellar defensive effort and a first period goal by Jayden Lee sparked Quinnipiac to a 3-0 victory in Friday night's ECAC Hockey opener at Ingalls Rink in New Haven.
Lee streaked down the right side of the Bobcats' offensive zone and received a slick cross-ice pass from junior Joey Cipollone before firing a shot past the blocker of Yale goaltender Nathan Reid. Skyler Brind'Amour also picked up an assist on the game's opening goal.
Senior Ethan de Jong doubled the Quinnipiac lead 1:02 into the third after picking up a Wyatt Bongiovanni faceoff win and ripping one by Reid from the left faceoff dot.
Senior TJ Friedmann added an empty-netter in the final minute to seal the victory for Quinnipiac.
First year goaltender Yaniv Perets made 12 saves en route to his second shutout of the season.

- The Bobcats allowed single digit shots in each period, including just two in the second. It's the sixth time this season that Quinnipiac has held an opponent under 20 shots on goal in a game.
- Quinnipiac's power play was unsuccessful in four tries, despite tallying double-digit shots on the man advantage.
- Tonight's game marks the sixth time this season that five or more Quinnipiac players recorded at least a point.
- Perets is just the fourth goaltender in NCAA Division I to record at least two shutouts so far this season.
- The Bobcats complete the opening weekend of ECAC Hockey play with a 4:00 PM puck drop at Brown on Saturday afternoon.
