#5/5 Bobcats Dominate Final Two Periods in Win
HAMDEN, Conn. – Graduate transfer Oliver Chau tallied his first career hat trick to pace the #5/5 Bobcats to a 5-2 win over Arizona State on Saturday night at the People's United Center. Zach Metsa tallied three assists in the win while eight other players recorded points for the Bobcats.
Arizona State scored 5:47 into the game on a deflected shot by Ryan O'Reilly and took the 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Michael Lombardi evened the score with his third tally of the season on a power play goal 2:09 into the second frame. The game remained tied until the final two minutes of the period when Chau buried his first of the game, also on the man advantage.
Just 74 seconds later, Desi Burgart sprung loose on a breakaway and finished one under the bar for his first of the season, extending the lead to 3-1.
ASU's Tim Lovell scored in the first minute of the third period, only for Chau to answer back just prior to the midway mark of the frame. Chau ripped a shot off the crossbar and the rebound deflected in off of a diving Arizona State defender to increase the QU lead to 4-2.
Chau scored an empty-net goal with two minutes to play to seal the win and complete the hat trick.
