HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Director of Tennis/Women's Tennis Head Coach Paula Miller has named Dominique Vasile and Kamilla Nella as captains for the Bobcats during the 2021-22 season, as announced on Thursday, Oct. 7.
Vasile – a graduate student from Bingham Farms, Michigan – has been a member of the Quinnipiac women's tennis program since 2017-18. Nella – a senior from Woodbridge, Ontario – has been with the Bobcats since the 2018-19 campaign.
"I am so excited to have Dominique and Kamilla leading the charge this year," Miller said. "They have proven to be leaders both on and off the court, and in the classroom. With the last two years being incomplete seasons due to COVID restrictions, Dominique and Kamilla remained strong and positive contributors to our team, and they helped lead us in making the most of our limited season this past spring."
"I'm looking forward to working with both of them to help lead a very talented Quinnipiac program this year."
Nella already has four singles wins this year – which ranks tied for the most of any Bobcat. Most recently, the senior defeated UConn's Hoppe (6-2, 6-1) during Day 1 of the ITA Regionals at West Point. She also has five total doubles wins this fall, including four victories with teammate Alessia Truden.
Nella was named to the All-MAAC First Team at No. 2 singles last year. She earned five singles wins this spring, going a perfect 8-0 from the No. 2 position. She went 6-0 in conference singles matches, and won each of her last eight contests entering postseason play.

Vasile has a pair of singles wins this fall, as well as a doubles win with Madison Williams. She most recent singles win came on Sept. 26 vs. Hofstra, as she defeated Walle in three sets (1-6, 6-0, 10-6).
The graduate student finished as an All-MAAC First Team Selection at No. 3 singles following the end of last year. Vasile won nine singles matches (tied for team lead) in 2021, posting a 5-1 mark in league action. She's gone 7-3 in her last 10 singles matches, and won five straight MAAC singles matchups to begin the season. She also teamed up with Stephanie Yanosov to earn All-MAAC First Team honors at No. 3 doubles.

Quinnipiac women's tennis returns to the courts on Saturday, Oct. 9, traveling to Rhode Island for the URI Doubles Tournament.
