Strong Start Lifts No. 8/8 Bobcats Past Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 8/8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team downed the Brown Bears, 5-3, on the road on Friday night. The Bobcats remain unbeaten through the 2021-22 season, earning the team's seventh overall win and first ECAC Hockey win of the year. Quinnipiac recorded its 18th win in a row against Brown.
Five different Bobcats scored in the win, including graduate student Taylor House, who notched a highlight-reel shorthanded goal in the second period. Senior Lexie Adzija, sophomores Maddy Samoskevich and Nina Steigauf and junior Kate Reilly also scored in the win.
Redshirt-junior Logan Angers earned her fourth win of the season, making 25 saves in the net. Quinnipiac out shout Brown, 41-28.

- (7;17, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Brown 0: The Bobcats got things going early in the first with a goal from senior Lexie Adzija. Junior Jess Schryver sent the puck behind the net and up to sophomore Kendall Cooper. Cooper shot on net, and Adzija was there to send the rebound past Brown's Hayley Kliczko.
- (12:40, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Brown 0: Quinnipiac took a 2-0 lead as sophomore Maddy Samoskevich buried a one-time on the back-door. Sophomore Olivia Mobley and Schryver added assists on the goal.
- (19:09, 1st period, PP) – Quinnipiac 3, Brown 0: Junior Kate Reilly scored her first of the season on a Bobcat power play. Mobley secured the puck in the middle from junior Sadie Peart and passed to Reilly, who hit it first time past Kliczko.
- (19:52, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 4, Brown 0: Sophomore Nina Steigauf hit a first-timer on the back-door to give the Bobcats a 4-0 lead late in the first period. First-year Maya Labad added an assist on the goal.
- (11:04, 2nd period, PP) – Quinnipiac 4, Brown 1: The Bears scored their first goal of the game in the second period on the power play. Anna Hurd scored from the right side past Logan Angers. Shay Maloney added a helper on the goal.
- (15:37, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 4, Brown 2: Anna Sheldon scored Brown's second goal of the period from Cassidy Piersiak and Madie Stockfish.
- (16:33, 2nd period, SH) – Quinnipiac 5, Brown 2: House netted a highlight-reel goal on the Bobcats' penalty kill to give Quinnipiac a 5-2 lead. House secured the puck in the Bobcats' defensive zone, juggled it to herself three times and sent it forward into the neutral zone. She kept possession, held off a Brown defensemen and scored a back-handed goal past Kaley Doyle.
- (3:06, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 5, Brown 3: Stockfish tallied her second point of the day in the third period to bring Brown within two goals of Quinnipiac's lead.
