Quinnipiac Picks Up 3rd MAAC Victory of the Season

HAMDEN, Conn. – Jason Budhai scored the game-winning goal in the 88^th minute, leading Quinnipiac men's soccer past Monmouth by the final score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium.

Budhai collected a deflection from a Rom Wasserman shot, then found the back of the net to send the Bobcats home with a MAAC victory.

With the win, QU is now 3-4-0 in MAAC play this season.

Brage Aasen also scored for the Bobcats, netting his ninth goal of the year less than a minute into action.

FIRST HALF
(1' – Quinnipiac 1, Monmouth 0): Brage Aasen scored less than 60 seconds into the game, striking a well-placed ball from David Bercedo into the back of the net from the top of the box.

(28' – Quinnipiac 1, Monmouth 1): Ben Zakowski even things 1-1, converting on a penalty kick chance for the goal after the Hawks drew a foul inside the box.

SECOND HALF
(88' – Quinnipiac 2, Monmouth 1): Rom Wasserman fired a shot on goal, then Jason Budhai tracked down the deflection and found the back of the net for the game-winning strike.

Quinnipiac outshot Monmouth 25-8 in total.
Jason Budhai's game-winner is his second goal of the season. The junior has three career goals.
Brage Aasen scored his ninth goal of the season in the victory. Aasen has a team-high 20 points (9 goals, 2 assists).
QU keeper Jared Mazzola made his first start since the Bobcats' season opener vs. Boston College. Mazzola allowed just one goal in 90 minutes of action.
Sam McCann, David Bercedo, and Rom Wasserman each earned an assist for the Bobcats.
QU has now won three of the last four meetings vs. Monmouth, dating back to the start of the 2018 campaign.
