25 Student-Athletes Land on BIG EAST All-Academic Team

Perkins, Ruiz Martinez Earn Third Career Selection
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac field hockey team placed a program-best 25 student-athletes on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Quinnipiac's 25 selections are its most on a conference all-academic team in program history as all 25 student-athletes were selected, with every member of the team posting over a 3.0 GPA.
To be eligible for the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have attained a minimum 3.0 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.
Overall, there are 2,768 BIG EAST honorees for the 2019-20 academic year. For the third-consecutive year Villanova led all schools with 370 student-athletes recognized. Georgetown was a close second with 365. Butler had 286 student-athletes receiving certificates, rounding out the top three for the second year. Affiliate student-athletes made up 214 of the honorees.
Earlier this offseason, Quinnipiac placed 18 student-athletes on the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, also a program best.
Valerie Perkins (Mohegan Lake, New York) and Inès Ruiz Martinez (Madrid, Spain) each were honored with their third BIG EAST All-Academic Team selections in their four-year careers.
Amanda Blum (Langhorne, Pennsylvania), Sarah Denion (Mountain Top, Pennsylvania), Alyssa Watson (Honesdale, Pennsylvania) and Brooke Whipkey (Charlotte, North Carolina) all received BIG EAST All-Academic Team recognition for the second time in their careers while 19 different Bobcats were honored for the first time in their careers.
