DeWees Nearly Records Triple Double in Loss
RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Manhattan, 71-70, in overtime Friday night at Draddy Gymnasium.
The Bobcats overcame a 21-point second half deficit, outscoring the Jaspers, 32-11, over a 15 minute span to extend the contest to overtime, but a Manhattan layup at the buzzer won the game for the Jaspers.
Quinnipiac outscored Manhattan, 20-8, in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Four Bobcats scored in double-figures, led by sophomore forward Mikala Morris with 18 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter and overtime. The Springfield, Ohio native recorded her second double-double of the season, as she added 10 rebounds against the Jaspers.
Junior forward Mackenzie DeWees stuffed the stat sheet in the loss; the Westminster, Md. native recorded 14 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

- The Bobcats went on a 5-0 run out of the media timeout, but the Jaspers answered with a 7-2 run to take a 14-11 lead at the end of one.
- Manhattan continued their strong play in the second quarter, including a 14-2 run to end the quarter. The Jaspers led 38-20 going into halftime.
- The Jaspers got out to their largest lead of the night of 21 with just under six minutes remaining in the third quarter.
- After that point, the Bobcats outscored the Jaspers 32-14 over the final 15-plus minutes.
- The Bobcats went into the fourth quarter down 12 with momentum after having a 12-6 run over the final five minutes of the third.
