Herd Scores 20 in Road Loss
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Senior Taylor Herd scored 20 points, but was narrowly outdone by Rider's Stella Johnson who scored 25 to lead the Broncs to a 75-59 win over the Bobcats in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon.
Fellow senior Paige Warfel recorded 14 more rebounds to improve her conference-leading season average. Mackenzie DeWees and Sajada Bonner also scored in double figures for Quinnipiac.

- The Bobcats led by as many as nine points in the opening frame, taking a 16-9 lead on a Sajada Bonner three-pointer with 2:54 on the clock.
- Rider ended the quarter on an 8-0 run to pull within a point.
- Despite shooting just 5-13 from the floor in the first quarter, the Bobcats took a 17-16 lead into the game's first break.
- The teams traded baskets to open the second before Rider opened up their first lead on a 7-0 run over a span of 1:05.
- The Bobcats would fight back, cutting the lead to one, but Stella Johnson ended the half with a layup to send the Broncs to the locker room with a 32-29 edge.
- The third quarter belonged to the Broncs from start to finish, as Rider outscored Quinnipiac 23-9 in the frame and held the Bobcats to just 3-12 shooting.
- The Broncs forced seven Quinnipiac turnovers in the quarter, compared to just one on Rider's end.
- Play evened out in the fourth quarter, as the Bobcats edged Rider, 21-20, in the period. The Bobcats hit four three-pointers and only committed two turnovers in the last 10 minutes of play.
- Herd scored 14 fourth-quarter points to nearly set a new career-high. The senior finished one point shy of her career mark after shooting 7-12 from the floor with four three-pointers.
- Warfel's 14 rebounds mark her third-straight game with 10 or more boards. The senior is ranked inside the top-20 in the nation in both rebounding and offensive rebounding.
- DeWees recored double-digit points for the third time in her last four games and added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals to her line.
- Bonner matched her career-high with 12 points and shot 50 percent from the floor in the loss. The first year now has three consecutive games with at least 10 points and has shot 50 percent or better in all three games.
- The Bobcats head back to Hamden to begin a three-game homestand on Saturday as the Manhattan Jaspers visit the People's United Center for a 4:00 p.m. start.
