Bobcats take down Warriors in Belfast
BELFAST, Northern Ireland – Four Bobcats scored in a 4-2 win against the Merrimack Warriors in the first game of the 2020 Friendship Series. First-years Kenzie Hauswirth and Sadie Peart, sophomore Lexie Adzija and senior Kenzie Prater all netted goals in the win. Senior netminder Abbie Ives recorded 17 saves in her eighth win of the season.
The Bobcats recorded the team's first win in Europe in program history. This is just the second year of the Friendship Series, which is hosted by SSE Arena and the Belfast Giants.

- (1:28, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Merrimack 0: Senior Kenzie Prater hit a laser from the point in the first shift of the game, and first-year Kenzie Hauswirth tipped it into the back of the net to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Junior Brooke Bonsteel added an assist on the play.
- (7:24, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Merrimack 0: The Bobcats jumped to a 2-0 lead after a goal from sophomore Lexie Adzija, who skated from the corner to the net and shot past Merrimack's Lea-Kristine Deme. Sophomore Courtney Vorster and junior Taylor House tallied helpers.
- (1:19, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Merrimack 1: The Warrior's Courtney Maud scored in the second period to put Merrimack on the board. Dominika Laskova and Chloe Cook recorded assists on the play.
- (6:08, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 3, Merrimack 1: First-year Sadie Peart tallied her first goal of 2020 from senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout and Olivia Konigson to give Quinnipiac the 3-1 lead.
- (9:44, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 3, Merrimack 2: The Warriors came back within one goal after Kate Bukolska scored unassisted.
- (9:21, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 4, Merrimack 2: Senior Kenzie Prater hit a rocket of a shot from the point to score the Bobcats' fourth goal of the game. Bonsteel added her second assist of the day on the goal.
- Prater and Bonsteel led the team with two points each in the 4-2 win. Prater now has three goals and eight assists for 11 points on the year. Bonsteel has four goals and six assists for 10 season points.
- Adzija scored her ninth goal of the year and leads the team with 18 points this season.
- Peart now has five goals this season which is tied with Hauswirth to lead all first years.
- Junior Taylor Girard led the team with five shots on goal.
- The Bobcats were perfect on the penalty kill, allowing just two shots through three penalties.
- Quinnipiac outshot Merrimack, 33-19.
- The Bobcats continue the Northern Ireland tour with the second game of the series against Merrimack set for Sunday, Jan. 5 at 12 p.m. (7 a.m. ET).
