Strong Second Quarter Leads to 66-52 Victory
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.. – Quinnipiac senior Paige Warfel recorded her second double-double in as many games and scored a game-high 16 points to guide the Bobcats to a 66-52 victory over Siena in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Warfel also pulled down 13 rebounds, while classmate Jaden Ward matched a career-high with nine rebounds in the win. Fellow senior Taylor Herd and first years Cur'Tiera Haywood and Sajada Bonner all scored in double figures for the defending MAAC champions.

- The Saints welcomed the Bobcats to the ARC with a high-energy effort in the first quarter, out-rebounding the visitors 13-5 in the frame and outscoring Quinnipiac 14-8.
- Quinnipiac totally flipped the script in the second quarter, earning 13 rebounds to Siena's three in the period. The work on the glass, combined with 53.8 percent shooting from the field led to a 21-10 point advantage for the Bobcats in the quarter.
- After a Rayshel Brown layup gave the Saints a 24-18 lead with 2:37 left before halftime, the Bobcats rattled off 11 unanswered points to end the half with a 29-24 lead. Warfel accounted for seven points during the run, including five from the free throw line.
- Quinnipiac continued the run at the start of the third quarter by scoring 10 of the first 12 points in the period and opening up a 39-26 lead.
- Haywood scored nine points in the quarter, including a three-pointer that grew the lead to 16 points with 5:08 left in the third. Siena, however, made yet another push and went on a 14-2 run to trim the margin to just four in the final seconds of the period.
- Herd knocked down a dagger three-pointer off an inbounds play with three seconds on the clock that lifted the Quinnipiac lead back to seven points before the final break.
- Quinnipiac's defense locked down in the fourth quarter and only allowed four Siena field goals, while the offense knocked down 10 of 12 free throws to close out the win.
- Warfel came up two points shy of her career-high for the second straight game, while the 13 rebounds lifts her season average above 10 per game.
- The senior also knocked down 10 of 11 free throws in the game, just three shy of the fifth-most in a game by a Bobcat in the program's history.
- Haywood matched a career-high with 13 points and added seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block to a solid stat line.
- Herd shot 5-9 from the floor, including two three-pointers, for 12 points in her best offensive performance since early November.
- As a team, Quinnipiac shot 40.8 percent from the floor and held Siena to 23.5 percent from long distance.
- The Bobcats out-rebounded the Saints 42-27 for the game and 37-14 over the final three quarters.
- Quinnipiac earned 12 second-chance points and did not give up any such tallies to the hosts.
- Quinnipiac returns to the national airwaves on Thursday, January 9, as the Bobcats take on the Rider Broncs on ESPNU. The nationally-televised contest will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Lawrenceville, N.J. on what will be Rider's College Experience Day (Kids Day).
