Six Different Bobcats Record Multiple Points Led by de Jong, Tufto with Three Points
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team scored five unanswered Friday night as the Bobcats dominated the No. 16/15 Harvard Crimson, 6-1, to earn their fourth straight victory.
Wyatt Bongiovanni (Birmingham, Michigan) led the Bobcats with two goals while Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) and Ethan de Jong (North Vancouver, British Columbia) each finished with a goal and two assists in the win.
Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia) had a goal and an assists and Ethan Leyh (Anmore, British Columbia) rounded out the scoring with his fourth of the season. Skyler Brind'Amour (Raleigh, North Carolina) and Peter DiLiberatore (Bedford, Nova Scotia) also recorded multiple points with two assists each.
Cukste put the Bobcats on the board just 1:26 into the first period for the early lead but Harvard answered back to end the first period tied, 1-1. Tufto scored midway through the second period and the Bobcats didn't look back as they outshot the Crimson, 23-16, and didn't give up a goal in the final two periods.
Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) anchored the Bobcats defensively with 24 saves Friday night while the defense played equally well in front of him with 22 blocked shots.

SCORING SUMMARY
- (1:26, 1st period) – Quinnipiac 1, Harvard 0: Cukste put the Bobcats on the board less than two minutes into the first period as he received a pass from Skyler Brind'Amour (Raleigh, North Carolina) fed him with a pass off the left wall and Cukste fired the puck through traffic past starting goaltender Mitchell Gibson.
- (17:32, 1st period - PP) – Quinnipiac 1, Harvard 1: John Farinacci tied the game for the Crimson late in the period as he cleaned up a rebound off a blocked shot from Jack Rathbone to just beat Petruzzelli.
- (11:54, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 2, Harvard 1: Tufto gave the Bobcats a 2-1 lead midway through the second period and they never looked back as he rifled home a shot just over Gibson's glove off a feed from de Jong.
- (17:17, 2nd period – PP) – Quinnipiac 3, Harvard 1: de Jong buried a goal of his own with less than three minutes remaining in the second period as DiLiberatore, Tufto and de Jong displayed some fine passing before de Jong snapped home the goal.
- (2:44, 3rd period – PP) – Quinnipiac 4, Harvard 1: Bongiovanni tallied his first of the night just 2:44 into the third period as he one-timed home a feed on the right wing from DiLiberatore to give the Bobcats a three-goal lead.
- (7:30, 3rd period) – Quinnipiac 5, Harvard 1: Leyh put home his first goal since Nov. 8 with a beautiful redirection off a shot from Cukste at the left point to add to the Bobcats lead.
- (16:07, 3rd period) – Quinnipiac 6, Harvard 1: Bongiovanni capped off the big win for the Bobcats with his second of the night after rifling home a feed from Tufto on a two-on-one breakaway.
- Bongiovanni recorded his first multi-goal game of the season and fifth of his career with his two-goal performance on Friday.
- He now leads ECAC Hockey with 10 goals on the season just one year removed from a 14-goal campaign as a first year.
- In addition to his pair of goals, Bongiovanni blocked a season-high three shots.
- Tufto recorded his third straight multi-point game with a goal and two assists in the win Friday night.
- He is the first Bobcat to reach the 20-point mark this season with three goals and 17 assists and now has seven points in his last three games.
- Tufto also has three straight season of at least 20 points in his career.
- Tufto was also the top faceoff performer Friday night as he went 18 for 26 on faceoffs as he now leads ECAC Hockey with 188 faceoffs.
- de Jong recorded his second career three-point game and first this season with a goal and two assists for the Bobcats.
- He has points in two of his last three games as he moved into a tied for third with 11 points.
- Cukste recorded two points to reach the 10-point mark on the season with his second multi-point performance of the season.
- Cukste's goal was his second of the season and first since Nov. 15.
- Leyh found the back of the net for the first time since Nov. 8 as he tipped home a shot from Cukste for his fourth of the season.
- Leyh has the most goals by a Bobcat first year and is tied for fourth in ECAC Hockey
- Petruzzelli tallied 24 saves on the 25 shots he faced in another solid game for the Bobcats.
- Over his last nine games, Petruzzelli has posted a 1.57 GAA with a .939 save percentage to give him a 2.19 GAA and .916 save percentage on the season.
- Since giving up three goals in the Bobcats' 7-2 loss at Harvard, Petruzzelli has allowed two or fewer goals in eight of the nine games.
- Whelan recorded an assist on the first goal of the game for the Bobcats to give him a point in four straight games for his longest point streak of the season
- Brind'Amour tallied two assists in a game for the second time in his career with a pair of helpers against the Crimson.
- He now has four points over his last four games while he continued his faceoff dominance with an 11 for 17 showing.
- DiLiberatore recorded his first multi-assist game of the season to extend his point streak to three games with a pair of assists.
- DiLiberatore is tied with de Jong for third on the team with 11 points.
- The Bobcats had six different players record multiple points Friday night.
