
Diaz Records Third Straight Double-Double in Loss to Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell to Fairfield in three sets on Saturday night. Aryanah Diaz recorded her third straight double-double with 19 digs and 10 kills.

SET ONE
Fairfield got out to a 4-2 lead in the set, and would build on that lead getting it to 9-3, forcing a Bobcats timeout. The Bobcats would call their second timeout of the set with the Stags leading 17-7. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win three straight points to cut the Stags lead to 17-10. After the Bobcats second timeout they would make a run in the set, cutting the Fairfield lead to 23-17, but the Stags would take the set 25-17.
SET TWO
Quinnipiac would win the first three points of the set. Aryanah Diaz would record three kills in the Bobcats first five points. A Diaz ace would give the Bobcats an 8-6 lead in the set. Both teams would trade points to the media timeout, but the Bobcats would take the advantage into the timeout, leading 15-13. The Bobcats would come out of the media timeout and win the first two points, forcing the Stags to call a timeout. Fairfield would take a 22-21 lead in the set, forcing the Bobcats to call timeout. Quinnipiac would call their second timeout of the set facing set point, 24-21. The Bobcats would fight off one set point, but Fairfield would win the next point, taking the set 25-22.
SET THREE
The Bobcats would win two of the first three points of the set. Lauren Miller would record a kill to give the Bobcats a 9-6 lead. Maggie Baker would get a kill on the next point to give the Bobcats a 10-6 lead, forcing a Fairfield timeout. Fairfield would battle back in the set to cut the Bobcat lead to 15-14. The Bobcats would call a timeout with the set tied at 17. Fairfield would take the lead 19-18. Quinnipiac would call timeout with the Stags leading 22-20. Fairfield would take the set 25-21 and close out the match.
