Brooke Bonsteel scores twice in 5-1 win
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team downed the Ryerson Rams, 5-1, in an exhibition game on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Bobcats outshot the Rams 29-17, and junior Brooke Bonsteel netted two goals in the win.

- (3:20, 1st period – Quinnipiac 1, Ryerson 0): Junior Olivia Konigson passed to freshman Kate Reilly in the Bobcats' defensive zone in the left corner. Reilly sent the puck across the ice on the right side to sophomore Lexie Adzija, who skated through the neutral zone into the offensive zone and shot the puck to the top left corner past Ryerson's goalie.
- (5:19, 1st – Quinnipiac 2, Ryerson 0):Junior Brooke Bonsteel secured the puck on the right wall after a rebounded shot by senior Kenzie Prater. Bonsteel skated into the middle of the zone and shot the puck past Ryerson's Natalie Thompson to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead on the power play.
- (6:59, 1st – Quinnipiac 3, Ryerson 0): Sophomore Katie Huntington scored the Bobcats' third goal of the game off a one-timer right above the crease on the right side. Junior Grace Markey and Prater recorded the assists.
- (17:42, 2nd – Quinnipiac 3, Ryerson 1): The Rams added a goal in the second period off a rebounded shot. Emily Baxter netter the goal with assists from Kryshanda Green and Erika Course.
- (10:37, 3rd – Quinnipiac 4, Ryerson 1): Bonsteel scored on a delayed penalty through the middle of the offensive zone. Freshman Kenzie Hauswirth added an assist.
- (12:25, 3rd – Quinnipiac 5, Ryerson 1): Freshman Sadie Peart got in on the action with a power play goal in the third from Reilly and junior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout.
- The Bobcats allowed just 17 shots on goal and recorded 29.
- Senior Abbie Ives and redshirt-freshman Logan Angers split time in the net, making six and 10 saves, respectively.
- Bonsteel and Reilly each tallied two points in the win. Bonstell recorded two goals and Reilly made her debut as a Bobcat with two assists.
- Bonsteel and Adzija led the team with five shots each. Adzija was also +2 on the day.
- Prater notched three blocked shots.
- Quinnipiac went 2-6 on the power play and kept Ryerson to 0-4 on the penalty kill.
- The Bobcats won 66% of the faceoffs.
- Quinnipiac officially kicks off the 2019-20 season Friday night on the road against the Providence Friars in Rhode Island. The Friars will come to Hamden the following day to wrap up the home-and-home series.
