
Volleyball Falls to Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell in four sets to the Marist Red Foxes on Sunday afternoon. Aryanah Diaz tallied her second straight double-double with 20 kills and 17 assists. Maggie Baker recorded her second straight double-digit kill game with 12 kills.

SET ONE
After losing the first point of the set, Marist would win the next five points resulting in a Bobcat timeout. Quinnipiac would settle into the match after the timeout, tying the set at 10. The Bobcats would take a 13-12 lead in the set thanks to a Lauren Miller kill, which was followed by a Morgan Sherwin ace. Both teams would trade points, until Marist won two points in a row making the score 19-17, where the Bobcats called their final timeout of the set. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout to score the next two points, resulting in a Marist timeout. Marist would call their final timeout of the set with the Bobcats leading 23-22. Marist would take advantage of their timeout and close out the set 26-24.
SET TWO
The Bobcats would take their first multiple point lead of the set at 6-4 from a Lydia Jones block. Marist would come back to tie the score and the score would stay within one point with both teams trading the lead up until the media timeout with Marist leading 15-14. A Marist ace would push their lead to 20-18, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win two of the next three points to cut the Marist lead to 21-20, prompting Marist to call a timeout. The Marist would not stop the Quinnipiac momentum and the Bobcats would win two straight points to take the lead 22-21. QU would call timeout with the score tied at 23. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win the next two points to win the set 25-23.
SET THREE
An Aryanah Diaz kill got the set underway giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Marist would take an 8-4 lead in the set, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. Marist would maintain their lead throughout the middle of the set, getting out as much as a 16-9 lead. The Bobcats would call a timeout with Marist leading 18-10 in the set. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win the next two points, cutting the Marist lead to 18-12. The Bobcats would battle back in the set, cutting the Marist lead to five multiple times. A Kaleigh Oates block would cut the Marist lead to 23-18, resulting in a Red Foxes timeout. Marist would come out of the timeout and take the set 25-18.
SET FOUR

Marist would go on a 5-0 run, extending their lead to 15-9, resulting in the final Quinnipiac timeout. The Bobcats would go on a 3-0 run cutting the Marist lead to 18-14, resulting in a Marist timeout. Lydia Jones would get a block to cut the Marist led to 20-18, then a Maggie Baker kill would cut the lead to 20-19, resulting in a Marist timeout. Marist would come out of the timeout and win five of the last seven points to win the set 25-21.
