HAMILTON, N.Y. – Coming off a 3-0 weekend and a tournament victory at the Knights Fall Classic, the Bobcats will take on their final non-conference foes of the season as they travel to the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament, hosted by Colgate University.
This weekend, the Bobcats will face Colgate, Rutgers and New Hampshire.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats traveled down to New Jersey to the Knights Fall Classic, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University. The Bobcats came out of that tournament with their first undefeated tournament in Division 1 history, defeating NJIT, Fairleigh Dickinson and Morgan State. That 3-0 weekend pushed the squad's winning streak to four games, dating back to a win against Seton Hall at the Morgan State Invitational.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate is coming off a 3-0 weekend at the Harvard Invitational. After falling to Alabama in their first match of the year, the Raiders have won five consecutive contests, winning three 5 set matches during that streak. Junior Outside Hitter Alli Lowe has earned two straight Patriot League Player of the Week honors, earning the most recent one through a 56 kill weekend at the Harvard Invitational.
SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
After dropping their first three contests of the season, Rutgers answered that with a 3-0 weekend last weekend at their hosted tournament, winning all of those contests 3-1. In that weekend, the Scarlet Knights defeated Towson, Princeton and Virginia. Senior libero Karysa Swackenberg earned the BIG10 Defensive Player of the Week honor for her performance at the Rutgers Invitational over the weekend.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire has had a strong start to the 2019 campaign starting 6-2. The Wildcats are currently on a three game win streak, defeating Holy Cross, Brown and Northeastern over that span. Senior libero Emily Taski was named America East Defensive Specialist of the Week for the second consecutive week. She tallied 72 kills over four matches to earn that award.
OUTSTANDING OATES
Senior Middle Blocker Kaleigh Oates was named MAAC Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday, September 10. She received this honor for her play at the Knights Fall Classic.
PRESEASON POLL
Quinnipiac was picked to finish fourth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Poll as announced by the league office on Tuesday, August 20. The Bobcats also received a first place vote for the second time in three seasons.
VETERAN LEADERSHIP
Alejandra Rodriguez (Toa Alta, P.R.), Lauren Miller (Collegeville, Pa.), Maria Pansari (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) and Kaleigh Oates(Downingtown, Pa.) return as seniors for the Bobcats. All four seniors saw significant playing time last season with all of them playing more than 80 sets over the course of the season. Rodriguez and Pansari played all 112 sets last season.
NEW FACES
The Bobcats welcome four new players to the team for the 2019 season. Freshmen Alisa Mejia (Rye Brook, N.Y.) and Aryanah Diaz (Miami, Fla.) come in as college rookies. Georgia Tselepi (Athens, Greece) and Olga Zampati (Athens, Greece) come in as transfers from other Division 1 colleges. Tselepi comes to Quinnipiac after transferring from Cincinnati and Zampati comes from Oklahoma.
ROBINSON ERA IS HERE
Head Coach Kyle Robinson picked up his first win as a Bobcat in a 3-0 win against Seton Hall at the Morgan State Invitational.
