
Volleyball Falls in 3 Sets to Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell in three sets to Colgate in the Bobcats opener of the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament.

Colgate 3, Quinnpiac 0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-16)

SET ONE
An Olga Zampati ace would give the Bobcats their first lead of the set at 4-3. Colgate would score four straight points to give the Raiders the lead 9-6. With Colgate leading 12-7, the Bobcats would call a timeout. Maggie Baker would get a kill to force a Colgate timeout with the Raiders leading 19-13. The Bobcats would win three straight points to get within 20-16, but Colgate would take the set 25-18.
SET TWO
Quinnipiac won the first two points of the set, but Colgate would bounce back and win the next six points. Morgan Sherwin had a block to start a 3-0 Bobcat run to cut the Raiders lead to 8-5. Colgate would win the next two points after that run to force the Bobcats to call a timeout at 10-5. The Bobcats would win five of the next six points capped off by an Aryanah Diaz kill to cut the Colgate lead to 11-10. Colgate would extend their lead to as much as five at 20-15. The Bobcats would win two straight points to cut the Colgate lead to 20-17. The Bobcats would cut the lead again to 24-21, forcing a Colgate timeout, but the Raiders would win the next point to take the set 25-21.
SET THREE
Colgate jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the third set, and extending it to 12-4, forcing a Bobcats timeout. Colgate would maintain their lead throughout the set, with both teams trading points. The Bobcats would win three straight points to cut the Colgate lead to 23-15, but the Raiders would take the set 25-16.
