Senior Captain Scores Two Goals to Pass Ed Muzyka '86 in Program Record Books with 39
HAMDEN, Conn. – Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) broke the program record for career goals by a defenseman with his 39th goal Saturday night but the No. 5/6 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team fell to the No. 12/13 Clarkson Golden Knights, 5-3, on Senior Night.
Priskie came into the night one shy of the record before tying the mark with a beautiful coast-to-coast finish in the second period for his 38th career goal. Priskie broke the record with a one-timer off a pass from Craig Martin (Trail, British Columbia) early in the third period.
With two goals in Saturday's game, Priskie now has 17 on the season to re-claim the lead for most goals by a defenseman in the nation.
Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey) also scored for the Bobcats as he put home his 10th of the season to star the scoring in the later stages of the first period. He also added an assist for a two-point night.
Prior to puck drop, the Bobcats honored their five seniors as well as four senior students that have been a vital part of the program's support staff.

SCORING SUMMARY
- (16:34, 1st period) – Quinnipiac 1, Clarkson 0: Whelan got the Bobcats on the board with less than four minutes to go in the first period on his 10th tally of the season. Peter DiLiberatore walked the puck to the left point where he fired a shot on goal but Whelan was in front to tip the puck out of the air and past Clarkson goaltender Jake Kielly.
- (1:54, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 1, Clarkson 1: Anthony Callin tied the game for the Golden Knights in the first two minutes of the second period after he picked off a Quinnipiac pass in its own defensive zone and skated in to beat Bobcats goaltender Andrew Shortridge.
- (2:39, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 1, Clarkson 2: The Golden Knights took the lead just 45 seconds later as Michael Underwood scored his second goal of the season as he beat Shortridge with a shot through traffic from the right wing that just snuck over the goal line.
- (5:02, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 2, Clarkson 2: Priskie scored his first of two goals on the night just over five minutes into the second period to tie the game once again as he skated the puck coast-to-coast, starting behind his own goal and skating through the Clarkson defense before putting it past Kielly.
- (12:14, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 2, Clarkson 3: Clarkson took the lead and never looked back as Chris Klack scored his fourth of the season with a net-front one-timer.
- (19:36, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 2, Clarkson 4: Haralds Egle added the Golden Knights' fourth goal of the period with just 24.8 seconds to go as he faked a slap shot before going backhand to beat Shortridge.
- (1:34, 3rd period) – Quinnipiac 2, Clarkson 5: Callin wrapped up his two-goal night with another tally in the first two minutes of a period as he went bar-down for the three-goal lead.
- (6:34, 3rd period) – Quinnipiac 3, Clarkson 5: Priskie answered once again with his record-breaking goal to pull the Bobcats back within a pair. Craig Martin (Trail, British Columbia) collected a rebound from a Whelan shot and shifted it to Priskie at the point where he blasted a one-timer into the back of the net.
- The Bobcats are now tied for second in ECAC Hockey with Harvard after the loss, trailing Cornell by one point in the league standings. Quinnipiac needs a win or a Yale loss, a tie or a Yale tie/loss next Friday to secure a first round by in the ECAC Hockey tournament
- Priskie passed Ed Muzyka '86 for the most goals by a defenseman in program history with his 39th career goal
- Priskie has 17 goals this season, the most by a defenseman in the nation, and also passed the previous mark for a defenseman in a single-season in program history set by Wade Winkler '03 of 14 with a trio of goals this weekend
- Priskie's two-goal game was his sixth career two-goal game and second this season
- Whelan tallied a goal and an assist for the two-point night as he now has 10 goals and 10 assist on the season
- He is the fourth different Bobcat with 10 goals and eighth with 20 points after his performance Saturday night
- Shortridge recorded an assist on Priskie's first goal of the night to give him three assists on the season, the most points by a goaltender in the nation
- Rafferty recorded his fourth point of the weekend with an assist on Whelan's opening goal for his 17th assist of the season
- Martin recorded a career-high with his 17th assist of the season, passing his sophomore year total of 16 while his 26 points this season are one shy of tying his career-high
- DiLiberatore recorded his 12th assist of the season and reached the 15-point mark with his helper, his first point Feb. 8 against Yale.
- Quinnipiac hits the road for the final weekend of the 2018-19 regular season as the Bobcats travel to Brown Friday night and nearby Yale on Saturday night
- Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. both nights
