Edwards Scores 18 in Non-Conference Loss
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac first year Cur'Tiera Haywood and junior Shaquana Edwards both scored in double figures, but the Bobcats dropped a non-conference contest, 80-58, to the UCF Knights on Tuesday evening.
Edwards reached double digits for the third-straight game and sixth time this season. Edwards had 18 points along with five assists and four rebounds in the loss.

- The two sides traded leads in the early minutes, with the Knights taking a slim 16-14 lead into the break thanks to a basket with eight seconds left.
- Edwards and Haywood combined to score all 14 of Quinnipiac's points in the quarter.
- After an Edwards three gave the Bobcats the lead to start the second, UCF rattled off 11 straight points and held the Bobcats scoreless for the next 3:13. The run gave the Knights a 27-17 advantage.
- The scoring evened out for the remainder of the half, as the Knights took a 40-29 into the locker room.
- The Knights opened the second half with three baskets and two free throws to extend the lead to 19 points at the 7:46 mark.
- The Bobcats held UCF without a field goal for the next 3:57, but only scored four points on their own in that span of play, so the deficit remained significant, at 50-33.
- Sajada Bonner's first three-pointer of the game, combined with two Jaden Ward free throws pulled the Bobcats within 14 points with 2:42 left, but they would not get any closer due to an 8-5 UCF run that ended the quarter.
- The Bobcats shot nearly 50 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter, including 3-6 from distance, but were outscored, 20-15, by UCF in the period.
- Edwards is the second Bobcat this decade (Jen Fay) to score double digits in six of the first seven games of a season.
- UCF held an advantage in paint points (50-10), points off turnovers (21-5), and second chance points (22-4).
- The Bobcats outpaced the Knights, 19-14, in fast break points and 19-17 in bench points.
- The Bobcats return home to host the Rhode Island Rams in the final non-conference home game of the season on Saturday, December 21. The game is Quinnipiac's Winter Wonderland game and will feature an ornament giveaway as well as the chance to meet and take a photo with Santa Claus!
