
Volleyball Drops MAAC Championship Game to #1 Fairfield

Alejandra Rodriguez and Olga Zampati named to MAAC All-Tournament Team
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The No. 6 Quinnipiac volleyball team fell in the MAAC Championship game to No. 1 Fairfield in four sets on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Right Side Hitter Georgia Tselepi led all players with 17 kills in the match.
Senior libero Alejandra Rodriguez and Sophomore Outside Hitter Olga Zampati were named to the 2019 MAAC All-Tournament Team.

SET ONE
The Bobcats won three consecutive points to jump out to a 3-1 lead. Fairfield won back-to-back points to tie the set at five. The teams would trade points leading up to the media timeout, and the teams would reach the media with the Bobcats leading 15-14. The Stags won two straight points out of the media to take a 16-15 lead, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. Fairfield took a 20-17 lead, which led to a second Bobcats timeout. The bobcats fought off one set point, but Fairfield took the set 25-22.
SET TWO
Fairfield took the first five points of the set, which resulted in a Quinnipiac timeout. The Bobcats answered back with back-to-back points out of the timeout to cut the Fairfield lead to 5-2. The Stags won three consecutive points, which gave them an 11-7 lead. Fairfield extended their lead to 17-10, leading to a Quinnipiac timeout. Fairfield would maintain their lead through the late stages of the set to take it 25-18.
SET THREE
Fairfield won three straight points to take a 5-4 lead. Quinnipiac answered back with three consecutive points of their own, which gave them an 8-6 lead. The Bobcats went on a 3-0 run to give them a 14-11 lead. The teams reached the media timeout with the Bobcats leading 15-12. Fairfield won three consecutive points to tie the set at 17, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. The Bobcats came out of the timeout and won three consecutive points to take a 20-17 lead. Fairfield tied the set at 21, leading to a Quinnipiac timeout. The Bobcats won the final three points of the set to take it 25-22.
SET FOUR
Fairfield called an early timeout with Quinnipiac leading 5-2. Fairfield tied the set at seven through a 3-0 run. Fairfield then went on a 5-0 run, which gave them a 12-9 lead, resulting in a Quinnipiac timeout. Fairfield's extended run had them winning 11 of 12 points, which gave them an 18-10 lead, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. Fairfield won three of the final four points in the set to win 25-16 and take the match three sets to one.
