
Volleyball Defeats Manhattan in Five Sets

Bobcats come back from 0-2 Down to win 3-2
RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team defeated the Manhattan Jaspers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats won three straight sets to lead them to the victory.
First-year Outside Hitter Aryanah Diaz recorded her third triple-double of the year with 34 assists, 17 digs and 10 kills.

SET ONE
The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-2 lead. Quinnipiac would take a timeout after a 4-0 run from the Jaspers to give them a 9-8 lead. Manhattan would come out of the timeout and win three of the next four points to take a 12-9 lead. The Jaspers would build their lead through another 4-0 run to take a 16-10 lead. The Bobcats would take another timeout with the Jaspers leading 17-10. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win four straight points to their deficit to 17-14, forcing a Manhattan timeout. The Jaspers would come out of their timeout and score the first point, and they would go on to win the set 25-18.
SET TWO
Manhattan won the first four points of the set. The Bobcats would win for straight points to tie the set at eight, and an Aryanah Diaz kill would give the Bobcats their first lead of the set at 9-8. The Jaspers would call their first timeout of the set with Quinnipiac leading 10-8. Manhattan would retake the lead at 12-11. Quinnipiac took their first timeout of the set with the Jaspers leading 16-14. Manhattan went on a 4-0 run to take a 23-17 lead. Manhattan would win two of the last four points of the set to take the set 25-19 and a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET THREE
The Bobcats would begin the set on a 6-0 run, forcing a Manhattan timeout. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win the next point to take a 7-0 lead. With Quinnipiac on a 3-0 run, and pushing their lead out to 15-10, the Jaspers would call their second timeout of the set. Manhattan came out of the timeout and won the first two points to cut their deficit to 15-12, to force a Quinnipiac timeout. The Bobcats went on a 6-0 run to take a 22-14 lead. An Olga Zampati ace would close out the set for the Bobcats as they would win 25-15.
SET FOUR
Manhattan went on a 4-0 run to give them a 7-4 lead. The Bobcats would answer right back with a 3-0 run of their own to tie the set at seven. The Bobcats called timeout with the Jaspers leading 13-10. Quinnipiac called their second timeout of the set with the Jaspers leading 18-14. The Bobcats came out of their timeout and went on a 3-0 run to cut the Manhattan lead to 18-17, leading to a Jaspers timeout. The Jaspers would call another timeout with the Bobcats gaining the lead, 22-19. Quinnipiac would win three of the final four points to take the set 25-20, and tie the match at two sets apiece.
SET FIVE
The Bobcats would win the first two points of the deciding set. The teams would switch sides with the Bobcats leading 8-6. The Jaspers won four of the next five points to take a 10-9 lead, forcing a Bobcats timeout. A Morgan Sherwin block would give the Bobcats the lead, 12-11. The Bobcats would win the next point as well to give them a 13-11 lead, forcing a Manhattan timeout. The Jaspers faced match point, 14-11, and would call their last timeout of the set. A Gabby Horman kill would give the Bobcats a 15-11 set win and a 3-2 match win.
