
Volleyball Falls in Five Sets at Niagara

Zampati and Tselepi record 17 kills each
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell in five sets to Niagara on Saturday afternoon. Olga Zampati and Georgia Tselepi led the way for the Bobcats with 17 kills each.

SET ONE
Niagara got out to an early 5-2 lead in the set. Georgia Tselepi got off to a hot start in the match, recording three kills for the Bobcats first three points in the set. Niagara went on a 3-0 run to give them an 8-3 lead in the set, forcing a Bobcats timeout. The Bobcats went on a 4-0 run to cut the Niagara lead to 9-7. The Bobcats won three consecutive points to tie the set at 11, and then won the next point as well to take a 12-11 lead, which was their first of the set. That run was extended out to 6-0, giving the Bobcats a 14-11 lead. Niagara called a timeout with the Bobcats leading 23-21. The Bobcats won two of the final three points to take the set 25-22.
SET TWO
Niagara took an early 6-2 lead in the set. The Bobcats called timeout with Niagara leading 13-9. The Bobcats won two consecutive points, cutting the Niagara lead to 15-13, forcing a Purple Eagles timeout. Niagara's two point lead would stay consistent through the middle of the set. Quinnipiac called their second timeout of the set with Niagara leading 23-19. The Bobcats fought off one set point, but Niagara took the set 25-21.
SET THREE
Niagara got out to an 8-3 lead in the set, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. Niagara called timeout leading 11-6. Niagara went on a 3-0 run to push their lead to 16-10. Niagara went on a 4-0 run and a 3-0 run in the middle of the set to push their lead to 22-13. The Bobcats fought off two set points, but Niagara took the set 25-17 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
 
SET FOUR
The Bobcats won the first four points of the set, and they would extend that lead to 8-3 in the early goings of the set. Niagara won four straight points to tie the set at eight. The Bobcats won three straight points to take a 12-10 lead in the set. The teams reached the media timeout with the Bobcats leading 15-12. Niagara called timeout with the Bobcats leading 22-18. Both teams won three points apiece out of the timeout, and the Bobcats took the set 25-21 to force a fifth set.

The teams switched sides with Niagara leading 8-5. Niagara called timeout leading 11-8 in the set. The Bobcats then fought off another match point out of the timeout to cut the Niagara lead to 14-13. However, Niagara won the next point to take the set 15-13, and the match three sets to two.
