Baker's 19 Kills Leads Volleyball to Win Over Marist

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team defeated the Marist Red Foxes by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday night at Burt Kahn Court. The Bobcats revenged their loss to Marist from earlier in the season, where they fell in Poughkeepsie 3-1.
With their win against Marist tonight, the Bobcats defeated the Red Foxes for the first time since 2016.
Maggie Baker continued her strong play for the Bobcats, recording a double-double with 19 kills and 12 digs.

SET ONE
Kaleigh Oates got the Bobcats started with two kills to tie the set up at two. Two straight points from the Bobcats gave them a 5-3 lead. Marist would answer back with three straight points of their own to take a 6-5 lead. Marist would win the next two points as well to take the lead 8-5, forcing the Bobcats to take a timeout. Marist would grow their lead to 18-10, forcing the Bobcats to take their second timeout of the set. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win the next two points from an Aryanah Diaz kill and a block from Morgan Sherwin and Lydia Jones. The Bobcats would go on a 4-0 run to cut the Marist lead to 22-16, resulting in a Marist timeout. Marist would come out of the timeout and win the three points they needed for the set to take it 25-18.
SET TWO
The Bobcats would take a 4-3 lead in the set from a Marist attacking error. Marist would take back the lead 8-5, by winning five of the next six points. The Bobcats would take an 11-10 lead from a Daniella Balsano ace. Both teams would go back and forth with only one point separating them throughout most of the set. Georgia Tselepi continued her strong start to the match by slamming down a kill to give the Bobcats an 18-17 lead. The Bobcats would win three of the next four points to take a 20-18 lead, resulting in a Marist timeout. The Bobcats would win the first point coming out of the timeout, forcing another Marist timeout. The Red Foxes would win three straight points out the timeout to tie the set at 21, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. The Bobcats would call their second timeout of the set with the Red Foxes leading 23-22. The Bobcats would come out of their timeout and take the set 26-24.
SET THREE
Aryanah Diaz would record a block to five the Bobcats a 3-2 lead in the set. The Bobcats would get out to a 9-5 lead in the set, resulting in a Marist timeout. The Bobcats would win the next four points out of the Red Foxes timeout, capped off by a Georgia Tselepi kill. Her kill would give the Bobcats a 13-5 lead, resulting in another Marist timeout. Marist would cut the Bobcat lead to 17-13 by winning five of the next six points, leading to a Bobcats timeout. Marist would cut the Bobcats lead to 23-22, forcing the Bobcats to call their second timeout of the set. Marist would tie the set at 23, but the Bobcats would win the next two points to win the set 25-23.
SET FOUR
The Bobcats would take a 6-5 lead in the set from a Maggie Baker kill, and then Nicole Migliozzi would add back-to-back aces to give the Bobcats an 8-5 lead. The Bobcats would fight off a Marist run to take the lead 15-14. The Bobcats would win the next point to take a 16-14 lead, forcing a Red Foxes timeout. Both teams would fight neck and neck throughout the middle of the set, including a 20-20 tie. Both teams would fight to a 23 all tie
