
Volleyball Falls to Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell to the Rider Broncs 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Maggie Baker led the team in kills with eight and Aryanah Diaz dished out 22 assists.

SET ONE
Morgan Sherwin led the Bobcats' early attack with three kills in the first five points. Rider would get out to an early 9-5 lead, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. The Bobcats would come out of their timeout and win four straight points to tie the set at nine. The first half of the set was about runs. When one team would make a run to take the lead, the other team would make a run to take the lead right back. An Aryanah Diaz ace would start a Bobcats 3-0 run, giving them an 18-16 lead, forcing a Rider timeout. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win three of the next four points to take a 21-17 lead. With the Bobcats having set point, the Broncs would win two straight points to force a Bobcats timeout with them leading 24-23. The Broncs would come out of their timeout and take the set 27-25.
SET TWO
The Broncs took an early 3-0 lead in the set. Maggie Baker would stop the Rider run with a kill to get the Bobcats on the board. Rider would continue to lead in the set, and would force Quinnipiac to call timeout with the Broncs leading 14-8. The Bobcats would come out of the timeout and win three straight points to cut the Rider lead to 14-11. The Bobcats would cut the Rider lead to two, 16-14. Rider would then win four consecutive points to take a 20-14 lead, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. Quinnipiac would come out of the timeout and win three straight points to cut the Rider lead to 20-17. Rider would take the lead 24-18 and the Bobcats would fight off two set points, but Rider would take the set 25-20.
SET THREE
Rider would build a 5-1 lead early in the set. Rider would get out to a 15-4 lead in the set, forcing the media timeout. The Bobcats would win consecutive points to cut the Rider lead to 22-13. Rider would close out the 25-15 to win the match.
