Bobcats, Friars split home-and-home series
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team finished the opening weekend by splitting the home-and-home series with the Providence Friars in a 3-2 loss at home. Junior Taylor House scored her second goal of the weekend, and senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout tallied her first of the season.

SCORING SUMMARY
- (9:45, 1st period, PP) – Quinnipiac 1, Providence 0): On the power play, junior Brooke Bonsteel secured the puck in the right corner and found senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout behind the net. Coutu-Godbout faked to the left and skated back to the right and scored a wrap-around goal to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead.
- (6:26, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Providence 0): Junior Taylor House scored her second goal of the weekend from freshman Alexa Hoskin and sophomore Lexie Adzija in the second period.
- (8:12, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Providence 1): About two minutes later, Providence's Annelise Rice found the puck off a tight pass made by Neve Van Pelt in the right corner. Rice shot it past senior netminder Abbie Ives.
- (19:53, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Providence 2): The Friars evened the score with seven seconds left in the second period. Maureen Murphy scored for Providence and Meaghan Rickard tallied the assist.
- (18:59, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Providence 3): Rickard sent the puck to Sar Hjalmarsson on the left side, who then shot it to the goal. Bailey Burton tipped it past Ives and recorded the game-winner.
- House and Coutu-Godbout tallied one goal each in the 3-2 loss. House now has two points on the season.
- Senior Abbie Ives made 19 saves with 13 coming in the second period.
- Junior Brooke Bonsteel added a helper on Coutu-Godbout's goal, and Adzija and Hoskin tallied assists on House's goal.
- The Bobcats remain perfect on the penalty kill and kept Providence scoreless on one power play.
- Quinnipiac went 1-3 on the power play with two shots.
- The Bobcats won 57% of the faceoffs, and Adzija recorded 14 wins of her own.
- Quinnipiac will face the Maine Black Bears next weekend for two road games on Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12.
