
Three Bobcats Record Double-Digit Kills in Loss to Niagara

HAMDEN, CONN. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell to the Niagara Purple Eagles 3 sets to one on Sunday afternoon. Three Bobcats recorded double-digit kills in the loss. Georgia Tselepi tallied 13, Kaleigh Oates recorded 12 and Olga Zampati added 11.

SET ONE
Niagara began the first set on a 4-0 run, but the Bobcats would win three of the next four points to cut the Niagara lead to 5-3. The Bobcats would win two straight points to cut the Niagara lead to 10-7, but Niagara would then win two consecutive points to take a 12-7 lead. Niagara would maintain a four point lead for the midpoint of the set. Niagara would call their first timeout of the set leading 16-12. The Bobcats would win the first two points out of the timeout, but Niagara would answer back with two consecutive points of their own to take an 18-14 lead. Quinnipiac would cut the Niagara lead to 19-17, but the Purple Eagles own three straight points to take a 22-17 lead. Niagara would win the next point as well to take a 23-17 lead, which would lead to a Quinnipiac timeout. The Bobcats would win the first two points out of the timeout, but Niagara would win the next two points to take the set 25-21.
SET TWO
The Bobcats got out to a 7-5 lead in the set, and they built that lead to 11-7. Niagara would cut the Bobcat lead to two, but a 4-0 run from the Bobcats gave them a 16-10 lead in the set, forcing a Niagara timeout.. Niagara would win two the first three points out of the timeout to cut the Bobcat lead to 17-12. Niagara would go on a run, cutting the Bobcats lead to 20-17, resulting in a Quinnipiac timeout. The Purple Eagles would win the next two points out of the timeout to cut their deficit to one. Quinnipiac would win two straight points after that Niagara run to take a 22-19 lead, forcing a Niagara timeout. The Bobcats would win three of the next four points out of the timeout to take the set 25-20.
SET THREE
Niagara took an early 7-5 lead in the set, resulting in a Bobcats timeout. The Purple Eagles would build on their lead out of the timeout taking four of the next five points to take an 11-6 lead. With Niagara leading 13-6 the Bobcats would take a timeout. The Bobcats would cut the Niagara lead to 15-10, forcing the Purple Eagles to call a timeout. The Purple Eagles came out of the timeout and grew their lead to 21-12. Niagara would close out the set 25-15 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
SET FOUR
Quinnipiac took an early 8-5 lead in the set. Niagara would win four of the next five points to take a 10-9 lead in the set, forcing a Bobcats timeout. Niagara continued their run, building their lead to 17-12. The Bobcats would cut the Niagara lead to 23-18, and would win the next two points to take the set 25-18 and take the match three sets to one.
