PHILADELPHIA – Quinnipiac men's tennis returns to play on Thursday, Oct. 17, traveling down to Philadelphia to compete in the 2019 ITA Regionals – which are hosted by UPenn.
The Bobcats will have three players competing in the tournament:

PHILADELPHIA – Quinnipiac men's tennis returns to play on Thursday, Oct. 17, traveling down to Philadelphia to compete in the 2019 ITA Regionals – which are hosted by UPenn.
The Bobcats will have three players competing in the tournament:
- Hielke Moore is in the main draw for singles. He will take on Buffalo's Matt Johnson in the first round on Friday afternoon.
- Alester Magalit is in the qualifying round of singles, and will face John Speicher of Dartmouth in his first match on Thursday.
- Hielke Moore/Patrick Cachapero will compete together in main draw doubles. They are 2-2 as a duo so far in fall 2019.
- Patrick Cachapero is also an alternate for singles play.

LAST TIME OUT
- Aleksa Martinovic and Axel Stern each won two matches on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the QU Tennis Courts, leading Quinnipiac men's tennis past Holy Cross by the final score of 4-3.
- Martinovic (No. 4) and Stern (No. 5 ) each won a singles match, and the pair also earned a 6-2 victory together in No. 2 doubles. The Bobcats took all three doubles matches in the win.
- Alester Magalit earned a three-set victory in No. 3 singles – good for his fifth victory of the 2019-20 season. Magalit took the third set 6-3, earning his second singles match victory of the year.
- After earning two wins on Saturday for the Bobcats, Aleksa Martinovic has now won three matches this season.
- Axel Stern earned a three-set victory in No. 5 singles, then recorded another win in No. 2 doubles for his sixth total win of the year.
- Patrick Cachapero and Hielke Moore have now won two doubles matches together over the last two weekend's – as the tandem earned a victory over Bryant on Sept. 27 at the Brown Invite.
- Bryan Schick and Austin Yannone won in No. 3 doubles, 7-6 (3). Schick has now won two doubles matches over the last two weekend's.
- Axel Stern and Alester Magalit each have four singles wins – which ranks tied for the most on the team. Stern is 4-2 in singles matches, while last year's MAAC Rookie of the Year is 4-5 in singles.
- Magalit and Bryan Schick have gone 3-1 as a doubles tandem, the most doubles wins for any duo on the team so far in fall 2019.
- This year's Quinnipiac men's tennis program is compiled of four sophomores (Clark Davis, Alester Magalit, Aleksa Martinovic, Bryan Schick), one junior (Hielke Moore), and three seniors (Patrick Cachapero, Axel Stern, Alester Magalit).
- Quinnipiac turned in an impressive 2018-19 season, advancing to the MAAC Tournament title contest for the first time since 2015-16. The Bobcats went 9-13 (4-2 MAAC) in total, cruising past No. 2 Marist, 4-1, in the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
- Under Head Coach Chris Pappas' guidance Quinnipiac earned six All-MAAC honors, highlighted by Alester Magalit being named 2019 MAAC Rookie of the Year. Magalit is the fourth player in program history to be named conference Rookie of the Year.Head Coach Chris Pappas' first five seasons with the Bobcats have been impressive, as the two-time MAAC Coach of the Year selection has guided the program to a 26-8 MAAC record (2014-15 – current).
- The Bobcats announced their 2019-20 schedule on Monday, July 22.
- Quinnipiac's 2019-20 schedule will feature three tournaments in the fall, beginning with the Quinnipiac Invitational (Sept. 20-22). The Bobcats will participate in the Brown Invite (Sept. 27-29) and the CT State Championships at Yale (Nov. 3-5). The program also hosts Holy Cross/Sacred Heart (both on Oct. 5).
- Quinnipiac Tennis Alumni day will take place on Oct. 26. The Bobcats will host Wesleyan and Bryant during the day, there will be a 5-point tournament for alumni, and the day will conclude with a reception at President Judy Olian's house.
