Bobcats win seventh straight in series with MAAC rival
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Five Bobcats scored in double figures, including Taylor Herd's 18-point performance, as the Quinnipiac women's basketball team defeated conference rival Marist, 76-69, on Thursday afternoon.
Paige Warfel tallied a career-high 13 points, pulled down nine rebounds, and went 9-9 from the free throw line in the win. Offensively, this was the third-highest point total of the season for the Bobcats and the third-straight game with 70+ points.

- The hosts opened the game on a 9-5 run, as both teams hit just two field goals each in the first eight minutes of play. Buckets by Warfel and Aryn McClure sandwiched a Brittany Martin three and gave the Bobcats a 12-9 lead with the mini 7-0 run. Marist's Alana Gilmer hit a half-court buzzer beater to end the quarter tied at 12.
- Paula Strautmane gave QU a 13-12 lead with a free throw in the early stages of the second quarter and the Bobcats would not trail for the rest of the contest. An 8-3 spurt to open the quarter pushed the lead to five where it would remain as the teams entered halftime.
- Quinnipiac dominated in the third quarter, outscoring Marist 24-16 in the period, including a 15-4 stretch to open the frame that busted the game open. The Bobcats claimed their largest lead of the game, 16 points, with 3:29 left remaining in the third quarter.
- The offensive floodgates opened for both sides in the fourth quarter, as the the teams combined for 54 points in the frame. Four Marist three-pointers helped the Red Foxes cut the deficit to seven points, but the Bobcats went 13-14 from the charity stripe to fend off the comeback.
- Herd's game-high 18-point performance was the second highest output of her career. She knocked down four triples and added two steals and two rebounds.
- Strautmane put together a well-rounded line with six points, seven rebounds, five steals (tied career high), and two blocks.
- Martin finished in double figures for the second straight contest and added three rebounds, three assists, and just one turnover to her totals.
- Jen Fay nearly posted a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds.
- The Bobcats led for 30 minutes on the afternoon, despite shooting 34.8% from the floor. They held Marist's high-powered offense to 39.1% from the floor and forced 18 Red Fox turnovers.
- Three Bobcats, Strautmane, McClure, and Thornton all fouled out in the fourth quarter. Marist's Rebekah Hand picked up five fouls as well.
- Quinnipiac dominated the offensive boards, outpacing Marist 16-6, and outscored the hosts, 15-2, on second chance points.
