Bobcats Earn First MAAC Win After Season-Best 22 Kills from Sherwin
JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team answered the call on multiple occasions Sunday afternoon as the Bobcats battled to pull away with a 3-2 victory in a five-set thriller against the Saint Peter's Peacocks.
Three different players recorded double-doubles and set multiple career-highs as the Bobcats picked up their first MAAC victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Quinnipiac 18, Saint Peter's 25)
- The Bobcats and Peacocks went back-and-forth early in the first set with neither team winning more than two points in a row for the first half of the set
- Saint Peter's took four straight points to extend its lead to 16-11 and the Bobcats called a timeout to stall the run
- Quinnipiac pulled back within three points due to two attack errors
- The Peacocks won three more points to take a six-point lead before ultimately taking the set, 25-18
- Quinnipiac came out firing on all cylinders in a dominant second set, winning seven of the first eight points highlighted by four kills from Morgan Sherwin (Coplay, Pennsylvania)
- After Saint Peter's pulled back within five points, Quinnipiac won eight consecutive points to take a 17-4 lead in the set due to two more Sherwin kills as well as one kill each from Kat Miller (Collegeville, Pennsylvania) and Maria Pansari (Whitehouse Station, New Jersey)
- With their dominant lead, the Bobcats cruised to the set win thanks to eight kills from Sherwin in the set
- Once again, the Bobcats and Peacocks battled throughout the third set but neither team could take a stranglehold on the set until midway through the set
- After another kill from Sherwin, Saint Peter's won four of five points to take a four-point lead
- Saint Peter's took a 21-15 lead and later took a 24-16 lead after a kill from Miller
- Quinnipiac won two straight points before Saint Peter's closed out the set
- Saint Peter's led for most of the first half of the fourth set before Quinnipiac took over to comeback
- Trailing 15-8, the Bobcats won five of the next six points to pull back within three points and force a Peacock's timeout
- The Bobcats won six of the next eight points to tie up the match 19-19, ended by a kill from Maggie Baker (Huntington Beach, California)
- After a Saint Peter's point, Quinnipiac won six straight points to close out the set with a 25-20 win
- The final set started out with each team going on 4-0 runs
- After a 5-4 Saint Peter's lead, Quinnipiac won five of the next seven to take a 9-7 lead from three Sherwin kills and a service ace
- Quinnipiac extended its lead to 14-11 after a kill from Lydia Jones (Glenn Dale, Maryland) before Saint Peter's took two straight points to pull back within a point
- After the Peacock's points, Jones ended the match with a kill to secure the first MAAC win
- Sherwin recorded her first career double-double with career-highs of 22 kills and 12 digs to go along with a .321 hitting percentage
- Sherwin's 22 kills are the most by a Bobcat this season
- Kat Miller picked up her fifth double-double of the season with 17 kills and 21 digs to go along with two aces and three blocks
- Miller's two aces gives her 95 in her career as she approaches 100 for her career
- Pansari also tallied a double-double for the Bobcats, her first of the 2018 season, with season-highs of 53 assists and 14 kills as well as four kills
- Pansari's 53 assists marks her seventh career 50-assist game
- Jones notched her first double-digit kills game with 14 in the wining effort to go with a .393 hitting percentage, boosting her season hitting percentage to .330
- Rodriguez tied her career-high with 23 digs and recorded three service aces
- Lauren Miller (Collegeville, Pennsylvania) rounded out the day of impressive performances with a season-high 13 digs for the Bobcats
- As a team, Quinnipiac posted a .243 hitting percentage with 65 kills in 185 total attacks
