Hofstra Closes First Half Strong to Defeat QU Women's Lacrosse

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team scored four unanswered goals over the final 11:38 of the first half to break open a 3-3 game and go on to take a 13-4 win over Quinnipiac on Tuesday afternoon at Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium. The loss snaps Quinnipiac's three game-win streak and drops the Bobcats to 3-3 on the year, while the Pride improves to 3-2.
GAME NOTES
- Sophomore Ashley Bobinski scored two goals to push her team-leading total to 14 on the season, with her first goal tying the score at 1-1.
- Freshman Maya Feigenbaum scored her fifth goal of the season to cut the Pride's lead to 3-2. Freshman Avery Drouin (pictured) had the assist, her third of the season.
- Senior Loren Antonacci scored her fourth of the season to tie the game up at three with 12:26 to play in the opening half.
- Hofstra used a 6-0 run spanning both halves to take a 9-3 lead. The four goals to close out the first half came over a span of 10:38, including a goal while down a player due to a yellow card.
- Bobinski ended the 6-0 run for the Pride with a goal with 15:07 left in the game to cut the lead to 9-4 and the Bobcats had several chance to close the gap further, but were stymied by Hofstra goalie Maddie Fields (13 saves).
- Sophomore Allie Kelsey came on in relief in goal for Quinnipiac and had a strong performance with 11 saves in 34 minutes, while holding Hofstra to 0-5 on free position shots in the second half.
- Junior Aubrey Conti had two caused turnovers to lead the defense.
