Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Freshman Odeen Tufto Named Semifinalist For Walter Brown Award

Quinnipiac men's ice hockey freshman stand-out Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) was announced as one of 16 semifinalists for the 66th Annual Walter Brown Award, given annually to the top American-born college hockey player in New England.
The nation's oldest nationally-recognized college hockey honor, the Walter Brown Award was established in 1953 by the members of the 1933 Massachusetts Rangers, the first American team ever to win the World Championship Tournament. Brown coached the Rangers to the title in Prague, Czechoslovakia, that year; the team defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime in the championship game.
Tufto was one of four players recognized from ECAC Hockey, along with Harvard's Ryan Donato and Adam Fox as well as Yale's Joe Snively. The first-year Bobcat currently leads all NCAA Division I freshmen in assists (24) and points (31). He's also one of 31 players in the country to reach 30 points, to date and also leads all NCAA Division I freshman in multiple-point games (11) and is one of 22 players with 10 or more this year. This past weekend, Tufto became the 13th player in Quinnipiac's Division I history - since the start of the 1998-99 season - to reach the 30-point mark in his first season, and the first since Landon Smith reached it in 2014-15.
Since the start of the second half, Tufto has 11 points on four goals and eight assists in 10 games to lead the Bobcats. He's currently riding a four-game point streak in which he's totaled two goals and four assists. This past weekend, he scored in both games - a 4-1 win against nationally-ranked No. 3 Clarkson and also in a 5-2 win against St. Lawrence in which he also picked up an assist. This season, Tufto has earned two ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week honors and one Player of the Week honor.
