MEDIA, Pennsylvania - The Quinnipiac men's tennis team will look to bounce back this weekend when they travel to the Springton Tennis Club in Media, Pennsylvania to face the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 9:15 PM. The Bobcats will then Face Drexel on Saturday, February 24 2018 at 6:00 PM at the Hecht & Hamlin Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Storylines
- The Bobcats dropped their last match, falling to St. John's, 6-1.
- Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, California) and Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) Combined for a 7-5 victory in No. 2 Doubles over Trejgut and Roszkowski.
- It was the duo's third victory together this season.
- Axel Stern ( Tustin, California) picked up his eighth victory in singles play this year with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 victory over St. John's Maslov.
- Quinnipiac was ranked third in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced by the league office.
- Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) was named the MAAC Male Tennis Player of the Week on February 14th after being a large part to the Bobcats' 5-2 win over Boston University.
- Zaretsky collected a win in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4 along with a victory in No. 1 Doubles 7-6 while paired with Austin Yannone (Severna Park, Maryland).
- Rozenstein started his senior campaign with a win the Flight "A" singles bracket at the UConn Invitational.
- Rozenstein and Zaretsky have combined for a 6-4 record so far in doubles play together.
- The duo also combined to win the Flight A Doubles bracket at the Quinnipiac Invitational as They collected four wins throughout the weekend.
- Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) has five wins so far this season during singles play, including a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Marc Sable of BU last Saturday in NO. 3 Singles.
- Yannone is 6-4 in his first 10 single matches of 2017-18.
- Yannone collected two victories at the Quinnipiac Invitational on his way to winning the Flight B Singles bracket.
- Hielke Moore (Fredericton, New Brunswick) has seven wins during singles play this season. And 5 more while paired with Yannone in doubles play.
- Moore started his Quinnipiac career with a four-win weekend at the UConn Invitational as he captured the Flight "C" Singles championship 6-0, 6-4.
- Alex Stern (Tustin, California) has eight victories so far this season included when he collected three wins in the UConn Invitational and one at the Quinnipiac Invitational.
- Stern also struck for three victories in the Singles Draw 3B bracket at the CT State Championships.
- Head coach Chris Pappas announced Rozenstein and Alper as the captains of the Quinnipiac men's tennis team for 2018.
