Bobcats Fall in Final Non-Conference Game, Open MAAC Play on Jan. 3

HAMDEN, Conn. – Aryn McClure (Springfield Gardens, New York) recorded season-highs with 17 points and 11 rebounds but the Quinnipiac women's basketball team fell to the UCF Knights, 47-45, Saturday afternoon.

McClure's 17-point, 11-rebound game was her second double-double of the season as she led all scorers in points and with six made field goals.

The Bobcats led most of the way but could not hang on as the Knights outscored the Bobcats 16-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away with the win.

Paula Strautmane (Riga, Latvia) posted six points and six rebounds while Edel Thornton (Gurranabraher, Ireland) and Taylor Herd (Quakertown, Pennyslvania) each had six points in the loss.

As a team, the Bobcats shot 30.2 percent from the floor.

GAME SUMMARY

Quinnipiac led by as many as 12 points with 2:25 left in the second quarter. The Bobcats held an advantage for 31:14 of 40:00 total minutes.
There were three lead changes in total, while the contest was tied on five separate occasions.
After the contest was tied 42-42 with 3:07 to go, UCF scored five points over the final three minutes on one made field goal and three free throws.

Aryn McClure's 17 points came on 6-of-10 shooting, as the senior went 5-for-7 from the free throw line. McClure recorded eight points in the first half, then nine points over the second 20 minutes.
Paula Strautmane went 3-for-7 from the floor, Edel Thornton shot 2-of-11, and Taylor Herd went 2-for-3. All three tallied six points for the Bobcats – tied for the second-highest total of the contest.
QU shot 16-for-53 (30.2 percent) from the floor, knocking down three 3-point field goals. The Bobcats assisted on 14 of 16 baskets.
UCF out-rebounded Quinnipiac 44-34 in total.
