Bobcats Get Back on Track in Non-Conference Victory

HAMDEN, Conn. – Redshirt senior Jen Fay pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds and Taylor Herd and Jaden Ward both scored in double digits to lead Quinnipiac women's basketball to a 65-48 victory over the Richmond Spiders on Wednesday night in Hamden.

GAME SUMMARY

Richmond opened the scoring with consecutive jumpers from Amy Duggan and Aniyah Carpenter in the opening minute.
The Bobcats responded with 13 unanswered points to take a 13-4 lead into the break.
The Spiders knocked down two three-pointers in the opening minutes of the second quarter and held the Bobcats scoreless for the opening 5:36 of the frame.
It was all Quinnipiac from that point, as Edel Thornton's layup sparked another 13-0 run to send the hosts into the locker room with a 26-11 lead.
After a Jen Fay three-pointer opened the second half, Richmond pulled within 10 points, but would not get any closer for the remainder of the evening.
The teams both scored 19 points in the third quarter and the Bobcats earned a 20-18 edge in the final period.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Fay (Lynbrook, New York) pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds in the win and added seven points, four assists, and a steal.
The Bobcats gave up 11 points in the first half, the least amount of points against in a half since holding Marist to 10 points on February 23, 2017.
The four points allowed in the first quarter were the least by a Quinnipiac opponent since Marist scored one point in the second quarter of the same game.
Taylor Herd led all scorers with 12 points, thanks to three three pointers in the third quarter.
Aryn McClure dished two assists and is now one assist shy of becoming the first player in Quinnipiac history to post 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, and 300 assists.
