Volleyball Hosts Canisius and Niagara for Final Home Matches

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team is set to host its final two matches of the regular season. The Canisius Golden Griffs and Niagara Purple Eagles will come to Hamden on Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11. Both matches are set to begin at 1 p.m., and the team will honor senior Kat Miller for a senior day ceremony before the Canisius match Saturday.
Notes on the Golden Griffs
Canisius stands at 14-11 overall and 12-4 in conference for the 2018 season. The Golden Griffs are second in the MAAC after Iona and have gone 8-2 through the month of October. The first and second place teams met on Oct. 28 with Iona winning 3-0.
Canisius leads the MAAC with a team hitting percentage of .248 and is ranked second averaging 13.44 kills per set. Camila Vazquez ranks first overall for the MAAC with a .352 hitting percentage, and Sofia Lopez leads the MAAC on defense with a 5.36 digs per set average.
Scouting the Purple Eagles
Niagara is fifth in the conference standings, right above Quinnipiac. The Purple Eagles have a 9-7 conference record and are 9-16 overall. They are coming off a win against Manhattan and a loss against Canisius. The Purple Eagles are ranked fourth in the MAAC with a .188 hitting percentage.
Last Time Out for the Bobcats
Quinnipiac went 1-1 last weekend with a win against Siena and a loss against Marist. Kat Miller led the Bobcats with a double-double in each match. She notched a season-high 25 kills against Siena with 13 digs.
Makeup of the MAAC
Iona plays Marist and Siena this weekend, and if the Gaels win both matches, they will be named the MAAC regular season champions. If Canisius wins both of its matches and Iona loses both, there would be a tie. Iona would win the tiebreaker with Canisius after defeating the Golden Griffs twice this season. Quinnipiac sits in seventh place with a 6-10 conference record.
All 10 teams in the MAAC will compete in the MAAC Tournament in Orlando, Fla., at the Wide World of Sports complex starting on Nov. 16.

Gabby Horman is ranked second in the MAAC with 78 total blocks with a 0.89 blocks per set average. Miller jumps to first in conference with 386.5 points recorded this season. Morgan Sherwinranks fourth in the same category with 325 points. Sherwin is also ranked third in the conference with 301 kills and Miller is right behind her with 300. Pansari ranks third overall in conference with 952 assists on the season.
Setting Standards
Pansari has recorded 3,287 assists in her three-year career as a Bobcat. She currently ranks third on the program's all-time career assists list. Kayla Lawler '12 stands in second with 3,431 career assists and Jen McClain holds the top spot with 4,519 assists.
Miller Time
Kat Miller has recorded 14 double-doubles on the season. She has tallied double-digit kills in the last six consecutive matches. She now has 1,145 digs on her career, which moves her to the fourth spot on the all-time career records list. On the serve, Miller has recorded 44 aces, averaging 0.45 per set, which leads the MAAC and is ranked 24th in the country.
The senior right-side hitter is also on track to break 1,000 kills this season. She currently has 982 kills on her career after a season-high 25 kills against Siena on Nov. 4.
