Bobcats Fall to Broncs to Split Weekend
HAMDEN, Conn. – Kat Miller (Collegeville, Pennsylvania) had one of her best games of the 2018 season Sunday afternoon with 17 kills, 13 digs and six blocks but the Quinnipiac volleyball team fell to the Rider Broncs, 3-1.
The Bobcats weekend series kicked off a seven-match homestand to close out the 2018 regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Quinnipiac 22, Rider 25)
- The Bobcats and Broncs went back-and-forth through the first set as neither team managed to distance itself until the end of the set
- Gabby Horman (Smithtown, New York) tallied two kills early in the set, helping Quinnipiac take a 4-2 lead
- After a Daniella Balsano (Bohemia, New York) service ace, Rider won four straight points to take a 10-7 lead
- The Bobcats followed up the Broncs' run with eight of the next 10 points as Miller had three kills and two blocks in addition to two kills from Morgan Sherwin (Coplay, Pennsylvania)
- Rider tied up the match at 17-17 with five of the next seven points
- Late in the match, the Bobcats took a 22-21 but the Broncs won the final four points to take a 1-0 lead
- The second set was dominated by the Bobcats despite an early couple points from the Broncs
- Quinnipiac won five of the next six points to take a 5-3 lead
- After Rider took an 8-7 lead, the Bobcats won eight of the next 10 points for a 15-10 lead
- Maria Pansari (Whitehouse Station, New Jersey) had a service ace while Horman, Miller, Sherwin and Kaleigh Oates (Downingtown, Pennsylvania) all had kills
- The teams traded points throughout the rest of the match before Miller and Oates recorded the final two kills of the set to tie up the match
- Quinnipiac started off hot through the first eight points, taking a 6-2 lead, as Oates tallied two kills while Pansari and Miller each had one
- Rider battled back with eight of the next nine points to claim a 10-7 lead after five straight points
- The Broncs extended their lead to 18-12 before the Bobcats pulled back within a point at 22-21 after a kill from Oates
- Despite pulling back within a point, Rider closed out the match with three points to win the set
- Led by two kills from Miller, the Bobcats jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the fourth set
- Rider won four straight points to take a 5-4 lead before Quinnipiac called a timeout
- Once again, the two teams battled throughout the set before Quinnipiac extended its late lead to 22-19
- After two Rider points forced a Quinnipiac timeout, Lydia Jones (Glenn Dale, Maryland) recorded a kill to give the Bobcats a 23-21 lead
- The Broncs called timeout before going on a 4-0 run to close out the match for the win
- Miller tied her second most kills in a match with 17 kills while also tallying 13 digs and a season-high six digs
- Miller's double-double was her 10th of the season
- Oates tied her season-high with 11 kills on the season and recorded a .304 hitting percentage
- One day after recording 14 kills, Sherwin notched another 12 in addition to five digs and three blocks
- Sherwin's double-digit kills performance was her third straight and 14th of the season
- Pansari recorded 45 assists for the fifth time this season as well as three kills and seven digs in the match
