HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team is set to face the Siena Saints on Wednesday, Oct. 16 for a mid-week MAAC match.
Scouting Siena
The Saints currently stand at 1-20 on the season with an 0-9 record in the MAAC. Siena is coming off an 0-2 weekend after dropping two matches against Marist and UMass Lowell. As a team, the Saints are averaging 9.2 kills per set. Nicole Deobler leads the team with 148 kills, averaging 2.39 per set.
Recapping the Bobcats' Weekend
Quinnipiac dropped two matches at Manhattan and Iona. Maggie Baker led the team against Manhattan with 10 kills and Maria Pansari totaled 36 assists. Against the Iona Gaels, Pansari earned her 3,000th career assist after recording 29 helpers in the match.
Looking at the MAAC
Iona is the leading team in the MAAC with a 9-1 conference record. Marist, Fairfield, Canisius and Niagara makeup the rest of the top five. The bottom half of the standings include Rider, St. Peter's, Quinnipiac, Manhattan and Siena. The Iona Gaels lead the conference with 14.14 kills per set. The Marist Red Foxes are averaging almost two blocks per set to lead the conference.
Pansari Hits 3,000
Pansari has recorded 3,018 assists in her three-year career as a Bobcat. She currently ranks third on the program's all-time career assists list. Kayla Lawler '12 stands in second with 3,431 career assists and Jen McClain holds the top spot with 4,519 assists.
Miller Making Moves
Kat Miller now has 1,069 digs on her career, which moves her to the fourth spot on the all-time career records list. On the serve, Miller has recorded 37 aces, averaging 0.47 per set, which leads the MAAC and is ranked 16th in the country.
Bobcat Stats
Gabby Horman is ranked fourth in the MAAC with 58 total blocks and is ranked seventh with 0.84 blocks per set. Miller is ranked third in conference with 274 points recorded this season. Morgan Sherwin ranks right behind Miller with 251.5 points. Pansari is ranked third in conference with 712 assists on the season.
