Pansari Records 3,000th Assist in Loss to First Place Iona

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Maria Pansari recorded her 3,000th assist in the 3-1 loss against the Iona Gaels on Sunday, Oct. 14. Pansari tallied 29 assists and now has 3,018 assists in her career. Morgan Sherwin led the Bobcat attack with 12 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set: The Bobcats came back in the first set to make the score, 5-7, in favor of the Gaels after three kills in a row from Lydia Jones. Iona would hold the lead for the remaining rallies and take the first set, 25-17.
Second Set: Quinnipiac opened the second half taking a commanding lead over the Gaels with a kill from Kat Miller and a block from Gabby Horman and Miller. Iona's Jamie Smith came back and tied the set, 7-7, with a kill. The Gaels took a three-point lead, but the Bobcats tied it, 12-12, after an Iona attacking error. Later, Morgan Sherwin tied the set again at 16-16. The Bobcats would continue to push forward and secure the second set win, 25-20, after a block from Pansari and Horman.
Third Set: The third set proved to be a battle for both teams – there were 14 ties and 10 lead changes. Down 14-16, the Bobcats came back to tie the set, 17-17, after an Iona attacking error. The teams would be tied again at 24-24, but Iona closed the second set with an ace and a Bobcat attacking error.
Fourth Set: The fourth set scoring went back and forth in the beginning of the set. Iona jumped to a 12-7 lead, and the Bobcats looked to rally back. The Gaels kept the lead, however, and took the fourth set, 25-16.

- Maria Pansari tallied 29 assists and has recorded 3,018 assists in her three-year career as a Bobcat. She is currently ranked third on the program's all-time career records list.
- Morgan Sherwin tallied 12 kills and three digs.
- Alejandra Rodiguez had 16 digs at libero.
- Kat Miller notched a .235 hitting percentage with nine kills and 12 digs.
- Gabby Horman recorded six blocks and has 52 on the season.
