Pansari Approaches 3,000 Assists in Bobcats Loss at Manhattan

Riverdale, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats dropped a 3-1 match to the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday, Oct. 13. Maggie Baker lead the team with 10 kills and had three digs. Maria Pansari notched 36 assists and has totaled 2,989 assists in her career so far.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set: The Bobcats opened up the scoring in the first set with a dominant 6-0 run. Kaleigh Oates started strong going 2-2 in the opening rallies. The Jaspers would make a comeback to even the set at 17-17 and 20-20, but the Bobcats finished strong and took the first set, 25-21.
Second Set: Quinnipiac went on a 6-1 run at the start of the second set, but the Jaspers came back to tie the set, 8-8. The Bobcats would score the next four points with two service aces in a row from Kat Miller. Manhattan would then go on a 5-0 run and take the lead, 13-12. Later, Quinnipiac tied the set, 21-21 after a Manhattan error, but the Jaspers closed out the second set by scoring the last four points in a row.
Third Set: After an ace from Alejandra Rodriguez, the third set was tied, 9-9. After a kill from Kaleigh Oates, the Bobcats went on a 5-0 run to take a 14-10 lead. Down 17-12, the Jaspers clawed back to tie the set, 18-18. The scoring went back and forth between the two teams, but Manhattan secured the third set, 25-23.
Fourth Set: Maggie Baker tallied a kill to close the gap to 8-6 in favor of the Jaspers. Manhattan would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the set and win, 25-17.
