HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team will play two matches on the road this weekend facing the Iona Gaels and Manhattan Jaspers on Oct. 13-14. The Bobcats are looking to bounce back after dropping a tight four-set contest against Marist on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Scouting Manhattan
The Bobcats will face the Jaspers on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1:00 pm. Quinnipiac and Manhattan will play for the second time this season after the Bobcats defeated the Japers, 3-0, in September. Three Bobcats notched double-digit kills in the win and Kat Miller tallied a double-double.
The Jaspers are on a two-match win streak after defeating Siena and St. Francis Brooklyn. Manhattan ranks first in the MAAC for team aces averaging 1.64 a set and 108 on the season.
Notes on Iona
The Gaels currently stand at the top of the MAAC with a 7-1 record and their only loss coming against Fairfield. The team is on a five-match win streak and will face Fairfield for the second time this season before playing Quinnipiac on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Iona's Clare Archibald leads the MAAC averaging 3.98 kills per set. The Gaels also lead the MAAC averaging 13.20 assists per set.
Recapping Marist
Quinnipiac faced Marist on Wednesday, Oct. 10 for a mid-week match. The Bobcats fell, 3-1, in a tight four-setter. Morgan Sherwin led the team with 11 kills and Lydia Jones was right behind her with 10 kills. Kaleigh Oates went 6-9 on offense to record a .667 hitting percentage. Maria Pansari recorded 33 assists at setter.
Setting the Tone
Pansari has recorded 2,953 assists in her career as a Bobcat and is ranked third in the program's all-time career records list.
Miller Time
Kat Miller now has 1,048 digs on her career, which moves her to the fifth spot on the all-time career records list. She also moved up in the national rankings to take over the 15thspot with 34 aces averaging 0.51 per set, which ranks first in the MAAC.
