
QU Softball Announces 2018 Schedule

HAMDEN, Connecticut - Quinnipiac softball head coach Jill Karwoski has announced the program's 2018 schedule, which is set to begin on Feb. 16, 2018 in Orlando, Florida, as the Bobcats will take part in the D9 - Orange Blossom Tournament.
The schedule features 55 total games, including 22 home contests. Quinnipiac opens up MAAC play on March 31, 2018 at Rider University in a doubleheader at 12 PM and 2 PM. The Bobcats' first home game is on March 24, 2017 when they host Wagner for a doubleheader at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
The Bobcats begin the season with 23 straight road contests from Feb. 16 - March 22. The Bobcats first action will take place in Orlando, Florida as part of the D9 - Orange Blossom Tournament, where they will face Northern Iowa, Florida A&M, Kennesaw State, Bethune-Cookman, and George Washington University from Feb.16 - 18. From March 2 - 4, Quinnipiac will play five games at Towson University in Maryland. There they will face Towson, as well as St. John's and Bucknell. From March 9 - 18, the Bobcats will play 12 games at the University of South Florida. There they will take on Southern Illinois, Maine, Saint Joseph's, Bethune-Cookman, Central Florida, Lehigh, Butler, Army University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Buffalo, and North Florida. Quinnipiac then comes back up north to play one final game on the road, at Central Connecticut, before the home opener.
The program then hosts Wagner at the QU Softball Field in Hamden on March 24. This starts a six game homestand for the Bobcats, where they will also take on UMass Lowell and Brown in doubleheaders. Quinnipiac then hits the road from March 31 to April 5, where they will play four games against Rider (MAAC Opener doubleheader), Providence, and Sacred Heart. The Bobcats return to Hamden on April 7 for their first home conference games against Canisius and Niagra, as well as a mid-week non-conference game against Yale.
Following the Yale game, Quinnipiac goes on the road for a doubleheader against Marist, and then returns home for another doubleheader the next day, facing Iona. The Bobcats stay home for an out of conference doubleheader against Holy Cross before traveling to Siena for another two-game set. Quinnipiac once again will return to Hamden to play a conference twin bill the next day, facing Monmouth on April 22.
The Bobcats then do not play again until April 28, when the QU Softball Field plays host to Fairfield for a pair of games. Quinnipiac then will take on Sacred Heart in non-conference action at home, before they take their final trip of the year to Manhattan on May 5 for a double header. The next day, the Bobcats conclude their regular season with a doubleheader against Saint Peter's at home.
The MAAC tournament is scheduled for May 9-12, 2018.
