WEST LONG BRANCH, New Jersey - After using a series of second-half runs, the Quinnipiac women's basketball team was able to defeat the Monmouth Hawks, 76-55, early Thursday afternoon at the OceanFirst Bank Center.

The win was Quinnipiac's ninth in a row as the Bobcats move to 8-0 in MAAC play with a win before heading back home to take on Fairfield on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Jen Fay led the way with 14 points, Aryn McClure added 13 points and Edel Thornton scored 12 points in the win.

After Monmouth tied the contest at 19-19, Quinnipiac went on a 15-6 run to close the final 7:27 of the half to go into the break with a 34-25 lead.
Seven different Bobcats scored on the run, with Fay and Thornton leading the way with three points apiece.
The Bobcats kept applying pressure in the early parts of the the third quarter as Fay knocked down back-to-back three pointers to give Quinnipiac a 40-27 lead and forcing an early Monmouth timeout.
Quinnipiac's run reached 10-0 in a span of 1:32 after McClure and Strautmane scored layups on back-to-back possessions.
After closing the third quarter up 59-43, Quinnipiac opened the fourth quarter with 10-2 run in the first 3:21 to take a 69-45 lead.
The Bobcats scored 26 points off 21 Monmouth turnovers.
Quinnipiac grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second-chance points.
