Matthew Taylor's Goal in 4th Minute Seals Bobcats' Win
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's soccer team finished its inaugural home game in fitting fashion as they earned their first win on the season over St. Joseph's University, 1-0, in its newly renovated QU Soccer Turf Complex.

- Midfielder Matthew Taylor (Dublin, Ireland) scored the Bobcats' first goal of the season in the fourth minute, on a goal assisted from a through pass sent by midfielder James Doig (Liverpool, England) and forward Rashawn Dally (Bloomfield, CT).
- Taylor's goal was the seventh of his career and second game-winner of his career.
- Taylor's first career game-winning goal came against Manhattan on October 14, 2015 on a 25-yard blast in the third minute.
- Quinnipiac's stalwart defense allowed only one shot on goal in the first half of the match, while on the other end the offense sent six shots toward St. Joseph's goalkeeper.
- The Bobcats did not allow St. Joseph's to get a shot-on-goal in the second half.
- QU outshot St. Joseph's 13-6 and 7-1 in shots-on-goal.
- Chrysostomos Iakovidis (Thessaloniki, Greece) posted a shutout, only needing to make one save on one shot on goal.
- Iakovidis' shutout was the eighth of the sophomore's career.
- This is Quinnipiac's first shutout of the season and first since it shutout Fairfield on November 2, 2016 to clinch the MAAC regular-season championship.
- Quinnipiac's win over St. Joseph's was its first against the Hawks in its first-ever meeting.
- The Bobcats' win was its first in its newly renovated 1,500 seat turf complex that formerly housed Quinnipiac's field hockey and lacrosse programs.
