EAST LANSING, MI. - Michigan State used an early first-quarter run to get ahead and never looked back, as the Spartans defeated the Quinnipiac women's basketball team, 74-55, on Monday evening at the Breslin Center.

The loss snaps Quinnipiac's two game road win-streak, as the Bobcats will conclude non-conference against Central Michigan on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.

The loss was the Bobcats' third road loss of the season, Quinnipiac suffered only four road losses last season.
Jaden Ward (Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin) tallied a career-high 12 points in the loss.
Ward was the only Bobcat to score double-digit points in the contest.
Michigan State opened the game with a 9-0 run in the first four minutes.
Edel Thorton (Gurranabraher, Ireland) snapped the run with a three-pointer with 4:43 remaining in the first quarter.
Jen Fay (Lynbrook, New York) closed the first quarter with a three-point play to cut the deficit to 17-7 heading into the second quarter.
Quinnipiac trailed by as much as 19 in the first half after the Spartans opened the second quarter with a 9-0 run.
The Bobcats responded with a 6-0 run of their own, holding Michigan State scoreless for 3:47.
Quinnipiac cut the deficit to as low 13 (45-32) with 4:11 remaining after Carly Fabbri (Stamford, Connecticut) and Paula Strautmane (Riga, Latvia) hit back-to-back three-pointers.
Quinnipiac forced 20 Michigan State turnovers.
The Bobcats tallied 15 points off the Michigan State turnovers and scored 13 points on the fast break.
