HAMDEN, Conn. – Nationally-ranked No. 11/12 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey lost to Colgate, 4-1, in an ECAC Hockey matchup at the Frank Perrotti, Jr. Arena at TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 3-3-1 overall and opens its ECAC Hockey schedule at 0-2-0. Colgate improves to 4-2-4 overall and 1-0-1 in league play.

Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia) scored his second goal of the season to provide the Bobcats with their lone goal.

SCORING SUMMARY

12:02 1^st (Colgate 1, Quinnipiac 0): Colgate scored on the power play when Bobby McMann ripped shot to the chest of Quinnipiac goalie Andrew Shortridge and Adam Dauda picking up the rebound in the crease. Dauda then pushed it through the open net to give the Raiders a lead midway through the first period.
13:28 1^st (Colgate 2, Quinnipiac 0): Raider's forward Dauda carried the puck deep into the Bobcats' defensive zone to the left face-off circle where he found John Snodgrass all alone in the slot; Snodgrass faked a shot before bringing the puck to his backhand, and finished the goal past a diving Shortridge.
1:37 2^nd (Colgate 2, Quinnipiac 1): On a shot from the point, Quinnipiac defenseman Karlis Cukste found and opening in traffic before the puck snuck between the legs of Colgate goalie Colton Point to cut the Raiders' lead in half.
19:59 2^nd (Colgate 3, Quinnipiac 1): In the final seconds of the period, Colgate's Mike Panowyk blocked a shot, picked up the loose puck and took-off down-ice on a breakaway before wristing a shot past Shortridge to give Colgate a two-goal lead the 3/10 of a second remaining before the second intermission.
16:19 3^rd (Colgate 4, Quinnipiac 1): Colgate's Panowyk received the puck from a pass by Josh McKechney in the slot and sent the puck by the right pad of Shortridge for his second goal of the game.

GAME NOTES

Karlis Cukste's goal in the second period was his second of the season, tying him with Chase Priskie for the lead among Quinnipiac defensders;
His four points, to date, also lead all Bobcats blue-liners.
