
QU Women's Golf to Compete In 11th Annual Hoya Invitational on Apr. 4-5

The Quinnipiac University women's golf team will travel to Beallsville, Maryland to compete in the 11th Annual Hoya Invitational at The Members Club at Four Streams on Apr. 4-5.

- The 11th Annual Hoya Invitational will be held at Four Streams and will face the challenging layout designed by PGA Tour veteran Nick Price and famed golf architect Steve Smyers.
- The 9-team field includes host Georgetown, as well as Boston University, Marshall, Monmouth, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Seton Hall, St. John's and Towson.
- The par-72, 6,127-yard course, the home for the Georgetown University men's and women's programs, is set amidst the rolling Maryland farmland and is one of Maryland's finest golf facilities. The 10-team field will tee off on Monday morning at 9 a.m. and play 36 holes, with the final 18 holes starting on Tuesday at 9 a.m. A practice round will be held on Sunday, March 29.
- Quinnipiac freshman Luciana Tobia (La Paz, Bolivia) finished a stroke off her best 54-hole score, carding a 232 (80-75-77, +16) at the Bearcat Spring Classic, good for a tie of 8th place.
- Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Connecticut) shot a combined 248 (+32) as she followed a first-day 84 with an 80 on Saturday before closing the tournament with an 84.
- Luciana Tobia's eighth-place finish in the field of 100 golfers at the Bearcat Spring Classic marks the fifth consecutive tournament that the first-year Bobcat has finished in the top 11, while it gives her five tournaments out of eight in the Top 10. She currently leads Quinnipiac with a 78.44 average as the Bobcats look ahead to the Hoya Invitational scheduled for April 4th and 5th.
- Tobia won her first career award last week when she became the first Bobcat to win the weekly honor in program history while she also becomes the first golfer to take home a conference weekly or month award since Nicole Scola was named the MAAC women's golfer of the month back on Nov. 13, 2013.
- Quinnipiac will compete in their final regular-season tournament on Apr. 9-10 at the Hartford Invitational at Tumblebrook Country Club in West Hartford, Connecticut.
- The Bobcats will face Yale in match play at The Course at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut on Apr. 17
- The Bobcats are set to compete in the 2016 MAAC Championship on Apr. 22-24 at the Disney Magnolia Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

- Quinnipiac senior captain Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Connecticut) enters the Hoya Invitational with a 86.06 average in seven tournaments this season.
- Whaley, competing as an individual last week at the Bearcat Spring Classic, improved by five strokes on her final round to shoot an 85 on the final day.
- Whaley top finish of the season came on the first day of the DSU Invitational when she completed the first 18 holes of the tournament in eighth place.
- Whaley's season-best round was an 81 at the Quinnipiac Classic.
- Whaley currently sits at 64 career birdies, good for second place in the Bobcats' all-time record book.
- Named MAAC Golfer of the Week on Mar. 23 and Mar. 30.
- Averaging a team-best 78.44 in 18 rounds across eight tournaments.
- Has finished 11th or higher in five-straight tournaments, and in the top 10 in the last four.
- Has shot 80 or lower in five-straight rounds and nine of her last 11 rounds.
- Leads the team in first round average (79.29), last round average (78.50), Par 3 Scoring (3.27), Par 4 Scoring (4.41), Fairways Hit (.791).
- Second in birdies (24).
- Her 78.44 per-round average is the second-best in program history.
- Her 24 birdies currently rank as the third most in a single season in program history.
- Her 70 on the second day of the Dartmouth Invitational tied the program single-round record.
- Owns three of the top seven 54-hole scores in program history, including last week's 232 (+16) at the Bearcat Spring Classic.
- Currently ranks second in the Bobcats' line-up with a 80.84 per round average, which is also good for the fourth-best season average in program history.
- Broke the program's freshman record for birdies in a season as she currently sits at a team-leading 27 for the year.
- Ranks second to Luciana Tobia in Fairways Hit (.730), which ranks 135th nationally.
- Posts a team-high .170 Birdie Conversion rate.
- Leads Quinnipiac in Par 5 Scoring (5.2466).
- 2015 All-MAAC honoree after a top 10 finish at las season's conference championship.
- Her current 84.15 per-round average is on pace to count as her career best.
- Carded a career-best 74 (+2) on the second day of the Lady Eagle Cat Invitational, improving by 11 strokes to finish in 14th place.
- Combined for a 164 (+20) at the St. John's Invitational to finish tied for 8th out of 32 golfers, her best career finish.
- Has shot below her career average (86.83) in nine of the 13 rounds she's played this year.
- Checks-in with a 86.00 average in 12 rounds across five tournaments.
- Her top round was an 82 on the first day of the DSU Hornets Invitational, which was also her top finish in 13th place.
- Will play in her fourth tournament of the season.
- Averaging 88.00 per round this season.
