
QU Women's Tennis Remains Perfect in MAAC Play with 6-1 Win vs. Marist

HAMDEN, Connecticut - The Quinnipiac women's tennis team picked up a big win for their season in a rematch of the 2015 MAAC Women's Tennis Semifinals with a 6-1 win over the Marist Red Foxes on Sunday afternoon.
Quinnipiac remained perfect in MAAC play this season, boosting their record to 5-0 and 10-10 overall. The Bobcats have now won four of their last five to reach double digit wins for the sixth consecutive season. Quinnipiac is now 25-0 against MAAC opponents since joining the league in the 2013-14 season. Marist fell to 7-12 (5-2 MAAC) as the finished up the MAAC regular season.
The Bobcats need just one more victory this season to clinch at least a share of the MAAC Regular Season championship.
Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) won two matches on the afternoon for the Bobcats as she now has 95 career wins after picking up her 14th this season. Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) also won two matches on the afternoon for her 29th victory of the season, with 15 wins in single and 14 in doubles while Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) won two matches on Sunday for her 37th match of the season with 16 singles wins and 21 doubles wins.
Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) won her 23rd doubles match of the season, tied with Stephanie Petrycki for fourth on the program's single-season doubles wins list. Her 40 overall wins are tied with four other players for 11th for the single-season program record.
Horton and Young won the first match of the day for the Bobcats at No. 1 doubles as they cruised past Karlene Pang and Chloe Lant, 6-1. Lu and Lohaphaisan clinched the doubles point for the Bobcats with their 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles. With the doubles point in hand, Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, California) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) fell to Caroline Lozo and Ariel Shulman, 6-4.
Lu continued the winning ways for the Bobcats in singles as she breezed past Shulman at No. 4 singles with the 6-1, 6-0 win. Marist got their only point of the match at No. 2 singles as Lozo knocked off Horton in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Young held on at No. 5 singles for the Bobcats to defeat Claire Schmitz, 6-3, 7-5, followed by Lohaphaisan's match-clinching victory over Elizabeth Brozovich, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6 singles. Dzulynsky stormed back from an early deficit against Pang at No. 1 singles to pick up the 7-6 (1), 6-4 victory. Rencheli came back from behind as well to force a third set at No. 3 singles as she defeated Lant, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The Bobcats will face the Fairfield Stags on Tuesday, Apr. 19 at 3 PM before traveling to the Siena Saints on Saturday, Apr. 23 at 11:30 AM in a match that could determine the final seeding for the 2016 MAAC Women's Tennis tournament.
