FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University softball team fell to Sacred Heart, 4-0 in a non-conference matchup on Thursday afternoon. With the result, the Bobcats dropped to 14-18 on the year while the Pioneers improved to 10-22-1.

Freshman Kendall Brundrett (San Diego, California) got the start in the circle for Quinnipiac and was extremely effective from the mound. Brundrett gave up zero earned runs and just five hits while recording five strikeouts. Her record fell to 1-1 on the season after picking up her first career win against UMass Lowell on March 19. The freshman didn't get much support at the plate against the Pioneers, as the Bobcats were held to just one hit in the game.

Keilani Finley (Alameda, California) tallied the lone QU hit, going 1-for-3 in the batter's box with a single up the middle. Dani Edmands (Northborough, Massachusetts) was 0-for-1 at the plate but reached base on a walk and hit by pitch.

The Pioneers took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second off three hits and an error. With runners on first and second and two outs, Sacred Heart scored two runs on an error by the Bobcat outfield. The following batter drove in the third Pioneer run with an RBI single.

Sacred Heart tacked on an additional run in the fifth inning off a throwing error by the Quinnipiac catcher.

Up next, the Bobcats will travel to New York for two weekend MAAC doubleheaders. On Saturday, April 16, Quinnipiac will take on Siena in Loudonville for a 12 p.m. doubleheader. The following day, Sunday, April 17, QU will visit Marist for another 12 p.m. doubleheader.
