
Sophia Dzulynsky Wins 100th Match at Quinnipiac as QU Women's Tennis Sweeps Monmouth, 7-0

HAMDEN, Connecticut – Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) won her 100th match as a member of the Quinnipiac women's tennis Wednesday afternoon as the Bobcats swept the Monmouth Hawks, 7-0, in a MAAC contest at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
Quinnipiac improves to 9-10 and 4-0 in MAAC play with their third win in the last four matches while Monmouth falls to 5-13 (2-5 MAAC). The Bobcats also remain undefeated since joining the MAAC prior to the 2013-14 season with a perfect 24-0 record.
Dzulynsky had won her 100th career match while the Bobcats were in Florida for their spring break trip, but with six wins coming at Syracuse as a freshman, Dzulynsky has now won 100 at Quinnipiac. Dzulynsky has now won 28 matches this season for the Bobcats in the 2015-16 season.
Four other Bobcats won two matches on the day for the Bobcats with Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) picked up her 39th win of the season and 81st of her career as she continues to shatter her single-season highs. Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) picked up her 93rd career victory with her 11th and 12th wins of the season for the Bobcats. Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) continues to show off her winning ways with her 35th wins of the season to improve to 35-20 while Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) is not far behind her with 27 wins on the season.
The Bobcats dominated right off the start against the Hawks as Dzulynsky and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) cruised past Alexandra Graff and Maria Ivanova, 6-1, at No. 2 singles for their 11th doubles win together this season. Horton and Young check in next to secure the doubles point for the Bobcats with a 6-3 win over Adriana Armendariz and Kendal Kauffman. Following the No. 1 doubles finish, Lu and Lohaphaisan finished up at No. 3 doubles with the 6-3 win over Chioma Gabriel and Rayne Rouff.
Singles play was even more dominant for the Bobcats as no singles player lost more than two games in a set. Horton won the first match of the day handily, 6-1, 6-0, over Graff in No. 2 singles before Lu's straight-set shutout of Gabriel, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Lohaphaisan secured the victory for the Bobcats a 4-0 with a straight-set victory of her own over Ivanova, 6-0, 6-1. Young continued to win at No. 4 singles for the Bobcats against Kauffman, 6-2, 6-1, before Dzulynsky finished up at No. 1 singles with the 6-2, 6-2 win over Armendariz. Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) finished up the match for the Bobcats with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Grace Wills at No. 6 singles.
The Bobcats will return to the court on Sunday, Apr. 17 when they will face rival Marist at 1 PM in a rematch of the 2015 MAAC Semifinals at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
